If You Pump Money Into A Recession, What Happens When The Money Runs Out?
I have been asking this question all week and people keep looking at me like I'm stupid. Maybe I am, but I think it is a legitimate question. If you don't think so, can you answer my stupid question for me anyway so I can move on to the next stupid question and stop obsessing about this one?
Not being independently wealthy, inquiring minds would like to know the friggin' answer. Seriously! After all, we're doing an awful lot of socialistic things and I understand the short term potential for stimulation, but what of the long haul? I'm in this for the long run and so are my little minions, who will be footing this bill at Heaven knows what personal income tax rate.
So far, it seems we're putting spending-band-aids on open financial-arteries and it is only a matter of time before the lifeblood of the country runs out.
Biblically speaking, where are we in the end game? People everywhere are debating about the signs of the times. Are we gonna knock ourselves out of the prophetic box with experimentation and squabbling about theoreticals in politics? Are we going to legislate God and common sense out of the equation? Am I really stupid, or is my version of common sense making you incredibly uncomfortable?
I remember being taught if you don't work, you don't eat. I remember being taught to care for orphans and widows. I remember being taught that communities are reasonable for their localities. So far, we've bailed out big businesses while orphans and widows are loosing the roofs over their heads. I am busting my a$$ working three jobs to make ends meet and try to get an education and you guys are gonna give away mad money to people living in the street? Well hell, how do you pick 'em? Let me know so I can stake out my corner with a TV box and grub along for my lunch money too. This is the perfect time for praying people to start praying. If we don't pray for our leaders they are going to squabble and squander us into the freaking ground with feel good ideas that have no basis for sustaining the life of anyone.
What's the skinny on the latest operation? Why aren't you cleaning them up, training them and giving them a job? Economists are starting to howl because a crap load of money for the homeless to lunch aint stimulating a damn thing except special interest projects. When the money people start shaking their heads, what's a non-CPA kinda gal like me supposed to think? We all know that I have a mouth and can think on my own just fine, but I am an advocate of hiring professionals and getting the heck out of their way so they can do their jobs.
Who the hell are we hiring to help fix this mess? 'Tis madness...
We can't do politics as usual, people. It's becoming too damn expensive... You want to help the homeless then really help them and stop pulling my chain with legislative stupidity. Mini-rant done for the day.

A handout is not a stimulus C. People need to work and not get unemployment checks. You are so on the mark with all your questions here, and I get the same strange looks when I question the "plan."
Yes C you are stupid...stupid enough to look at reality, a bit sharp tongued but hey you made some great points.
I'll answer your question about what will happen when the money runs out as it did in California. They will want more money from you and I.
The Governator, you know the guy who has had so many facial trims he really talks out of the back of his head, and our politicos just screwed us again today.
Arnold won office on "no new taxes" and the revenues increased by 45 Billion a year since he took office. They spent that and Billions more putting us in the hole. Their solution?
We now will pay 9.75% sales tax in most counties. Vehicle tax will double. We now have a "luxury tax" on things such as a round of golf and other services. Want a massage, pay a tax.
And for the Killer: 2.5 - 5% income tax surcharge!!!! A tax on our tax.
Now is the time to pray because our country will collapse as we know it and that just may be Biblical.
Gary, I think our government should work better than it has been. I'm tired of the games. They mean well, but meaning well and doing well are two very different things...
People need relief and people need to survive. We don't want hand outs, we want solutions. I understand it may take a while, but while we are figuring things out we should not be wasting money in order to look like we are making progress. This is not progress. It's stupidity in drag pretending to be something that it is not...
Thank you, Sara. I think I wear my stupidity very well (LOL). I love irony and sarcasm. :-)
Sara is right about the reality thing. We are going to have to be less politically correct and a bit more willing to call a spade a spade if we ever hope to make some real progress in digging out of this mess.
Cameron, all the nations will be in trouble at the same time in the end of age playbook. What we do now is very critical to our survival. We can not play games with our monetary policy and we can not expect to throw money at every problem that comes along. This age will change whether people like it or not. I'm sure the Romans thought their nonsense would get to go one forever as well...
It's almost like having the choice between a fuel efficient home that's a bit homely and a pretty package being promised down the road. We do not like the small adjustments of the homely one so we keep passing it up for the beauty down the block that has a busted boiler but looks good. Who cares if we have three times the heating bill of the first choice as long as the person in charge gets what they want, the pretty home... Right now, bail-outs are the pretty houses down the road... What are we supposed to do when the bill comes in. One day we will not be able to pay it. Then what?
Hi C
If we continue to pump money into the economy with nothing backing the money that we are printing, we could turn the recession into depression with hyperinflation, and that's not a very good picture.
Good luck and success
Lou Ludwig
I get a little worried when it's tough to tell the difference between Lay's potato chip marketing (Crunch all you want ... we'll make more!) and our monetary policy (Spend all you want ... we'll print more!) One of the good things about today's economic climate is that more and more citizens like yourself are voicing their opinions, asking questions, and getting involved. Of course the key question is ... is anyone in Washington listening?
Lou, very well said and very quotable. I shall really enjoy quoting you, my friend. :-)
LOL @ John. Awesome comparison. :-)
I have been surprised on a number of occasions regarding who has been reading me (LOL). I hope my e-mail continues to be interesting and that someone somewhere who can actually make a difference does pick up the Internet chatter.
BTW, Derek Overbey has an excellent article you guys can check out here. :-)
REM...... "It's the end of the world as we know it" but those being Bailed out "Feel Fine"
Claude, very true. I hear they are sniffing around asking for round two while claiming round one wasn't enough... That takes nerve...
You and me both. I am worried, when the money runs out, everybody wants more, from where???? If you don't have any, you don't go spend what you don't have - you can't. It's crazy. ~Rita
Rita, I keep thinking this is going to be disastrous if they don't slow it down and get it together. The war on terror will be a drop in the bucket compared to this financial monstrosity...
Hi C, you said it. I hate to say it but we can't "band-aid" everthing. The chips need to just fall where they may. If we don't hit the bottom, we can't start to climb back up. I don't know one person that is not suffering the downturn yet we all pay. It is frustrating and even more so that this burdon will be carried by our grandchildren! At this point, just give ever American citizen $100,000 and move on. I think that would be cheaper!
Cristal, you may be right. Sad, isn't it? I am hopeful but I am also very tired.
Excellent points Carolyn. I am not a doom and gloomist and I certainly live in the belly button of the Bible belt. I hear all the many of the same arguments. All I can say is thank God, He is STILL in control of this crazy spinning orb...

How suckie is that? I told her to get her resume out there and keep that payment going. I will run her quilt to her when I get out. be good and keep asking questions. love cheryl
Wow... I am so sorry to hear that Cheryl. I had one lovely get laid off while we were house hunting. She gave me a referral to another family member soon after. Things are really getting difficult for a lot of folk...
Hi C I agree we are pumping money into a broken system.
Why not fix the problems instead of throwing money at it?
Here's my biggest problem with the way they are throwing OUR TAX MONEY around. It's not equal representation for taxation. O is not helping everyone across the board with a universal program, he has targeted a financial lower tier/class of people and has subsidized that class at the expense of the rest of us who are struggling to do the right thing, as if we do not need relief.
We do.
Here inn Washington State we were just allocated several billion dollars from the Feds - guess where it is going???? To the WELFARE system, I kid you not! I was flabbergasted, but maybe I will be at the Welfare office myself soon enough and I can benefit from it... I have just written letters to my congress people that my husband and I are both commissioned sales people. We do not live outside of our means, we are working hard and we are losing our a$$es. These people who we have voted into OUR government need to start working on fixing things for us little people or we need to hold THEM responsible!
Teresa, all of it? Geez...
