Just Because You Asked...

It appears my miniature photographs at this link were not what a few of you were expecting. Here's a more detailed shot. Can you see it now? (LOL) Just teasing. :-)

I keep thinking I should do a small coffee book on this. I have a lot of nice photographs of Shea Stadium. Okay, maybe a couple of hundred (LOL). It's bittersweet to see this coming apart tier by tier and I've certainly spoken a lot on the subject at hand. I feel as if I am losing a good friend. I know it is just a building, but that's the way that I feel. I hope I get to make some nice memories at Citi Field, but the fact of the matter is it will never house the history or displace my childhood memories of Shea...

Time to embrace the change... It may take a few weeks. I'm in mourning over my favorite stadium.

The larger picture C of the demolition of Shea does it more justice I agree.

C, What is going to built there in place of the stadium?  I have not kept up with it at all.  It amazes me with the economy as it is that they have the money to just build a new stadium, guess it makes for jobs?  Sorry about your old friend.

It was sad to see them tear it down!

Posted by Jeannette Neerpat, e-Pro Coral Springs/Parkland Real Estate (CondoDomain.com) over 11 years ago

I loved it, too.  It was a great stadium and honestly didn't need to go.  I think they finished it off today if I'm not mistaken.  You may have one of the last photos of it still standing.

Wow little sister, I had no idea they were tearing it down, that's what happens when you don't watch the news for 15 years.

Carolyn, I did not know that they were tearing down the stadium either. Goes to show you what I know...

Did you buy any of the stuff they were selling from the stadium?  A friend of mine bought two seats and is installing them in his family room.  Now that is a fan.

Josef, I wanted to but when you have 4 people living in a very small NYC apartment, you have to let things go (LOL).

Michael, I am on my way to say goodbye to it today. I'm thinking of making a nice little film with the kids.

Robert, I tend to avoid watching the news as well. I get all my info off of their websites (LOL).

Carole, they really should have kept it. It would have made a great place as a museum and special events host. Think of all the cool movies they would have been able to make there.

Audrey, would you believe a parking lot for Citi Field? (As if the rest of the parking lot wasn't already huge...)

Gary, my readers appear to have a valid point. Using a close up does place the destruction on a more personal note.

This was the first place I saw a professional game and will miss it a lot even though I never go to games anymore.  You should do the book C.  Enjoy

I haven't even been there yet and they are tearing it down.  That's upsetting!  KM

I was not aware they were tearing it down, and that is a shame. I am sorry to see it go.

Posted by Sharon Paxson, Newport Beach Real Estate (Compass) over 11 years ago

Melodious, it is very cool.

Paddy, it's on the ground in a pile of rubble. I've new pictures that will be incorporated into a Mixpo presentation later on tonight.

Kristin, I will miss this place. I guess it's time to embrace Citi Field.

Sharon, I am always checking on it. It's finally done... Shea is no more...

Susan, it's down on the ground being carted away... Citi Field is now standing alone looking all modern... (sigh)
