Inman 2009: Pass The Nikon, Please...

I had a wonderful time at Inman 2009 and am very much looking forward to my next set of AR Road Trips.

Carolyn Tann-Starr 2009

I remember thinking as I headed towards the Marriott that TLW and Broker Bryant would not be there. I was a little sad because Billie has not been feeling well lately and I would have loved to meet them. I hope I will some time later on this year, so  please keep BB and TLW in your prayers and send them your regards. She's gonna need her strength to deal with the little minions (LOL). Besides, I believe in the power of prayer and would love to see her whole and pain free, happy with her beloved BB.

Although Inman 2009 was not the same without them, I will always treasure this experience, for I was fortunate to spend major quality time with some of the most gracious and kind people I have ever had the pleasure to meet.

My hubby took over my little minion duties so I could could hang out with the people "living in my computer." Deliriously happy that I had a play date with my Club Chaos peeps Audrey June-Forshey and Meyer Leibovitch, I also wondered who else I was going to see once we settled in for our visit. Audrey and I had been spoofing about getting together for quite some time now and anticipation can be a beautiful thing. She's always bragging about how smart Meyer is. Smart is an understatement. Dude is brilliant. After a few months of plotting and planning it was finally going to happen and I was very excited about it, like a little kid doing the Snoopy Dance. It was well worth the time and effort. I truly enjoy when on-line peeps convert into stellar brick and mortar relationships.

Nothing beats an AR Road Trip and the bonus of this Tweet-up was the fact that I was going to make the acquaintance of a few more of my favorite Tweet-peeps and Active Rain blog buddies. I couldn't wait to get in there even though I had no idea where I was supposed to be going. Nothing like a timely text message from Audrey to send me on my way (LOL). I was on the hunt for some rare eye candy and knew I would be playing "pass the camera" with my friends as soon as I set foot in the Atrium where they were waiting.

For those of you who think Twitter or blogging on Active Rain is a waste of your time, I want you to please think about it again. I got to meet a lovely group of people simply by direct messaging my cell phone to Tweet-peeps who were tweeting during the conference. We were updating in real time using the public and private Twitter time lines. We played phone tag and exchanged rapid fire consecutive e-mails. It was nice to be constantly in touch with one another. I was not the only one who was tweeting my exact location either. So did Audrey. I also posted a brief update on Active Rain while in the Atrium playing in my social media accounts using her laptop. Nothing like making use of the AR Club Chaos "Electronic Rolodex" if you need to send an e-mail or retrieve a number to reach out and touch someone. Facebook came in handy as well. We had a blast and created some lovely memories to share.

Here's a little Inman eye candy for you:

Carolyn -

THANK YOU so much for sharing your eye candy!!!  Maybe someday I'll get to attend one of these events and meet you in person...sounds like you had a wonderful time!

Posted by Amy Salisbury, West Virginia Realtor/Jefferson/Berkeley (Leading Edge Properties) over 9 years ago

Amy, it was a very nice event and the Active Rain team is so sweet. They are genuinely nice people and have wonderful plans for the Network. I adored meeting my Tweet-peeps and Club Chaos family. I was absolutely star struck with Ines. Geez, she's just awesome - they all are (LOL). There were so many great conversations going on and lots to share, joke and laugh about. I was like a sponge soaking it all in and almost afraid to move in case I missed someone I was looking for. I'm looking forward to trying to attend another function down the road. I hope my schedule will work out for it. :-)

C, I am embarrassed to say that I have no idea whan Inman is.  Is it a blogging group, something Active Rain has, what?  I see the name all of the time, but I have no idea what it is.  And this one was so close, I probably could have come!  Darn.  Great pictures.  Jonathan is quite a cutie, if I may so. xxoo

I wonder how I can use what they are creating for us down the road to have some fun and create something else useful and fun to do. I upgraded my music and film programs. Now I need a new video camera. They keep building stuff, I'm gonna keep coming. I've been creating projects with my friends and the Team Blog concept has us very excited.  You can do a lot with that if you have a handful of really good friends looking to monetize their blogs. :-)

Dona, I am always looking forward to catching up with my AR blogging buddies and Twitter-peeps. Life is so much more interesting when you reach out to people daily and they respond. Friendships are priceless and I am very thankful to be here. I am more thankful to have made the friends that I have. I can't imagine my life without them. :-)

24 hours to Georgia?  it can't be.  I would love to stop at your mom's though.  That would be very nice.  PJ party at Richard's.  His wife is going to be seriously pissed when you show up in pajamas with one hard of hearing and loud laughing Italian, one funny dog and two little boys, even if the little boys are her grandsons!

Posted by Anonymous over 9 years ago

just realized I wasn't signed in!  I'm sure you knew it was me though.  How many hard of hearing and loud laughing Italians do you know anyway?

Susan, too funny! 16 hours to GA if you drive like me, but the minions will not stay put for that amount of time. Noah will get out of his belt and try to side-seat drive. Dude will climb in the front in a NY minute. BTW, my Mom and Dad have multiple houses and I have keys (LOL). They always host our friends visiting. Hell, our friends go without us (LMAO).

Do you have any idea how many times my mother has called me and started the conversation with, "Guess who is here having breakfast with us?" Them my peeps who are supposed to be in NY start chatting with me from SC (LOL). They love having company and I love bringing company. Makes for a very interesting visit. They would be insulted if people drove through and did not stop or stay over. I get the Road Trip bug from them. We were always visiting relatives when I was little. Sometimes they'd leave us behind for the rest of the summer so we could play with our cousins. My Dad has 9 siblings and my Mom's sister had 14 kids. 9 are still with us. When I tell you I have cousins in GA, I have COUSINS in GA (LMAO). 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Seriously!  :-)

BTW, you were right, I knew it was you, girlfriend. It had the Mangigian diction all over it. :-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) over 9 years ago

I guess this is a good time to tell you I get antsy driving 2 hours to the Jersey shore!!!  16 hours!  This is why I will never see Hawaii. Too long of a flight.  We will have to stop and see people every 2 hours if I am to remain sane for the trip!

Posted by Susan Mangigian, Chester & Delaware County Homes, Delaware and Ches (RE/MAX Preferred, West Chester, PA, RS152252A) over 9 years ago

See. I knew I loved you for a reason. You're the perfect driving companion. Do you have any idea how much eye candy we can collect stopping every two hours? One vacation with you and I'd have enough for three coffee books (LMAO). You're on. Every two hours it is, Susan, my lovely. :-)

Debbie H, I have two Nikons. I adore them.

Jeff Belonger YOU ROCK! It was mad cool meeting you and I am so looking forward to seeing you again. We have to hook up in NJ. :-)

Jeff Corbett, I was completely star struck. What a pleasure to meet you and I am looking forward to many more conversations. :-)

Kris, the people made it awesome. I am convinced if we were stuck in traffic we'd get out and have a great party on the side of the road because the comfort level was amazing. We write the way we speak. We're sharing our true voices. What you see is what you get has never been more sweet than spending time at Inman with my friends. I'm looking forward to many more AR Road Trips to meet more people down the road. :-)

Oh Great...

The one time that everyone gets together for a fun night, and I'm out working and miss everything.

Wow, I'm bookmarking this so I can read all of the salacious comments again! I really hate the fact that I wasn't able to join in!

We're obsessed with meeting you and the Mrs and I can't wait to introduce you to your virtual minion nephews (LMAO). Richard, this is going to be a lot of fun. You get to host the GA Tweet-up with Triple Julie. There is no way I'm spending the night in GA and not see Julie Chapman.  :-)

C, by the time we put this itinerary together, with all the stops needed for me to pee and stretch my legs, and all of the people we need to pop in on, stay overnight with, have a meal with, we will be gone most of the summer!!  Lol!!  We may need to wait for our kids to grow up and not need us anymore and just take 6 months to tour the country and visit our AR friends and family!  Think how often I'll have to pee by then!  Lol!

Posted by Susan Mangigian, Chester & Delaware County Homes, Delaware and Ches (RE/MAX Preferred, West Chester, PA, RS152252A) over 9 years ago

Awww... Susan, what's a bathroom break between friends (LOL). So, who do you wanna be? Thelma or Louise? (Minus the crime spree of course - LOL) 7 days on the road visiting should be very interesting. Slow drive down, slow drive up. Lots of eye candy. Maybe we can get some FL peeps to cross the border for a day. Besides, Laura Watts is 30 minuets from South of the Border. How could we not drag Laura to my parents house, or at least do your bathroom break over in her neck of the woods. Now there's a bit of NC eye candy I would love to get my hands on. Me, you and Laura Watts with minions in the same shot. Seriously! We can play, "Pass the Nikon on I-95." Brilliant!

C, this is a public post, so I'm not sure I can say that I want to be whomever (Thelma or Louise) who got to have an interlude with Brad Pitt, I think it was.  Am I allowed to say that on a public post?  Where's Elaine Hanson, she keeps me straight on these issues!  lol!

LMAO @ Susan. Antonio Ban an afterthought here? (ROTFL) Oh my word, way too funny. Where is Elaine? Where's her twin? I seriously want a second opinion here. I can't wait to see what they say. :-)

Always great to meet Rainers in person. Looks like Inman NY had a lot of blogger star power. I'm thinking about going to Inman SF this summer, but if not, will definitely be at BlogWorld in October. Think of the pics you could take in Las Vegas!

Posted by John Novak, Henderson, Las Vegas and Summerlin Real Estate (Keller Williams Realty The Marketplace) over 9 years ago

John, you certainly know how to plant an effective seed (LOL). I'll have to see if the hubby can survive the little minions for a week. I would love to do SF, especially since it will give me an opportunity to hang out with the CA crew. I'm trying to flip my schedule to see if I can make Seatle in Feb. It is soooo hard to pick and choose (LOL). You know how I feel about my eye candy and Las Vagas is Spanking-A! :-)
