16 Year Olds Are Doing It! What's Your Excuse?

Todays's Club Chaos/S.G. Fan Club Twitter Talking Point: Internet Marketing Is A Team Sport

Here's an interesting Bio quote: "A 16-year-old kid trying to make some pocket money on-line. #1 Best-Selling Author of eMillions."

If you think joining a writing project is a waste of your time, you may want to reconsider. Check out what my Tweep-peep @stanleytang has to say on the subject. Just because he's a teenager doesn't mean he doesn't know what he is talking about. BTW, some of the best ideas I have ever had were inspired by my little minions (LOL).

My fave quote on Stanley's post: "And the other thing is teamwork. Yes - teamwork. Business is a team sport. It wasn’t just this one 16-year-old kid doing everything – and you can’t possibly do everything - it took a team of around 50 people to execute this launch successfully. The majority of those were joint venture partners promoting the book on their websites and to their followers. There was also my team over at my publisher who handled the technical side of getting the book published and into bookstores. I also had to outsource many of the things which I weren’t as good as or didn’t have time to do (and I would have outsourced even more if I could start all over again), such as graphics and ad copy. Do what you’re best and delegate the rest. And of course, I got myself a mentor. I wasn’t an expert in the area of book marketing so I got somebody who I could ask for guidance. This is something vitally important to anybody planning to get into business - get a mentor. Pretty much all the successful entrepreneurs in the world had mentors, e.g. Warren Buffett’s mentor was Benjamin Graham."

Kudos and congrats to Stanley on his book launch entitled, "eMillions: Behind-the-Scenes Stories of 14 Successful Internet Millionaires." You can order it on Amazon.com here.

Carolyn, Stanley's post reminded me of the thoughts in the book about the 4 Hour Work Week. Delegate all areas that you are not good at. Easier said than done because delegating often involves "paying" others to do it. I'm half down on mentors myself thinking sometimes the best mentor for you is YOU!!!

Carolyn, Stanley is one together guy.  I love that he says to delegate--and don't do enough of that.  People will often help you out in an exchange for services.

Carolyn, this is a little like a mastermind group.  I may not know how to do everything but I know where to find the people that do... and that's where a lot of success starts.  Very good stuff from young Stanley.

I hope you and your family have a very blessed Christmas.  It has been my pleasure getting to know you on AR!

Now that's an interesting perspective, Gary (LOL).

Carole, I am learning to swap tasks with other people so I can free up more time and do the things I am really good at. I'm looking forward to reading Stan's book.

Jesse, that's what I love the most about Club Chaos and ActiveRain. I've got four mentors and a coach here. I'm loving every minute of them kicking my a$$ because I am improving all around and learning how to upgrade my business plan from a two year to a five year model. I was already excited about the collaborative writing project but now I am totally stoked to get the graphics completed and compile the data into a draft so I can collect more feedback from you guys. 2009 is going to be a Spanking-A year! ;-)

Hello C -- you always come up with such interesting blogs, where do you find all this stuff. Oh, wait. I know. You walk around with a computer strapped to your back.

It's been lovely getting to know you this year -- Merry Christmas!

P.S I'll try to post some pics from Kauai later this week . . .

Interesting post. I am mulling around the idea of a mnetor for my business. I am trying to get a vacation rental dept going in my FL brokerage, have hired a manager and now need to get this rolling. A mentor for me would be excellent and could in turn mentor him....thanks for the mental fodder

Kelly, there's nothing like having good people to bounce ideas off of, or to let me know when I am being really, really dumb (LOL). I am pretty fortunate I have good peeps taking me under their wings. I am excited about 2009. I have very positive expectations and have been sucking up everything I can get my hands on from Donald Trump's material. :-)
