Work at Home Mom Perks: Tasty Minion Food Delivered For Lunch

New Shanghai 125-02 84th Road Kew Gardens, New York 11415 (718) 846-0125 (718) 846-0180

Has a Chinese & Japanese Kitchen that ROCKS! Free delivery! I love them.

I love being a Work at Home Mom (WHAM). You get sweet foodie paradise perks. Seriously!

I am sitting over here with a big cool aid grin on my face because my little ones love Chinese and Japanese food almost as much as their Mama. One of the best places to eat in Queens County is New Shanghai. They have excellent taste and service customers off of two awesome menus. I frequently order meals from both categories and have to say my fave two entrees are their Deluxe Platter of Salmon Teriyaki and their Beef Teriyaki. We are about to chow down on 'em right now. BTW, both come served with Tempura, California Rolls, Soup, Salad and Rice. If you ever find yourself in need of a party platter for an open house, dinner party, or movie night with the DVD player, these are the people to call. Trust me. I'm talking Spanking-A tasty! Another plus: very reasonably priced too.

If your little minions are as picky as my little minions, you can not go wrong with New Shanghai.

What's your favorite foodie paradise spot? Inquiring minds want to know. :-)

C...

great concept for a Localism post ... delivery is an important consideration!

Posted by Richard Weisser, Richard Weisser Retired Real Estate Professional (Richard Weisser Realty) almost 12 years ago

Richard, it is the number one consideration when I decide to frequent a place. I like the idea of being able to enjoy my foodie paradise cravings in the comfort of my home. :-)

CTS~Hey girl...the food looks totally yummy. I'd love to join you, but am still down with this nasty flu bug...when I get better and can actually taste food again, I'm going to get sushi from Amura in Lake Mary. Debbie Summers and I LOVE it there. BTW, she is sick too if you want to pop on over and wish her a speedy recovery. Enjoy...it looks very tasty!

Hi!

That is the one thing I miss about living in the one of the 5 boros - inexpensive, fabulous ethnic foods with most being within walking distance.  Park Slope, Brooklyn is one the best places to live in the New York.  LOL  Although truly throughout the 5 boros there is an amazing amount of great food everywhere!  LOL

Seriously - here one (actually 2) can have an average dinner out (nothing special) and drop 100 bucks easy.  Ridiculous.  I am cooking a lot more now.  Using my slow cooker more (hey, if I can't have someone ready to serve me a home cooked meal the minute I walk in the house - these things will serve the purpose) & I plan meals for the week on Sunday.

One of my favorite places to eat here is a Mexican restaurant that I have started a post on.  Waiting to go photograph it.

Thanks for the flashback!  ;-)

LaShawn, I'm so sorry to hear that you are under the weather. I will pop over to peek in on Deb in a few. Amura sounds lovely. I hope to experience it with you ladies one day soon. :-)

Don't want to deter you from making a trip here but the only thing delivered is pizza.  However, I love to cook and there are restaurants within minutes!  You are soooooooooo lucky!!!!

Posted by Melody Botting, You Deserve The Best (Broker Associate PenFed Realty) almost 12 years ago

Sandy, you would be amazed with what I could do with $100 in my neck of the foodie paradise woods (LOL). I am going to have to stop by one day on my many trips en-route to Pawling, NY to see what goodies you guys have to offer for a Benjamin (LOL). Oh my word, I could get a 64 pcs Sushi Party Patter for $29.95 at New Shanghai. Three of those and a couple of bottles of juice/soda could feed all of the people residing in the 7 apartments on my floor (LMAO).

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) almost 12 years ago

Ooooo... Melodious, I would love to cook in your kitchen with you. I love to cook. That's why I'm chubby, because I love to eat as much as I love to cook (LOL). I will be very happily turtle running for a long, long time, people. Gotta get my jog on so I can (1) collect beautiful eye candy and (2) eat, eat, eat... :-)

Carolyn, my wife and I are big Asian food fanatics, probably more so on the Chinese than Japanese side. Your plateful looks delicious there. We've done more the takeout vs. the delivery as the timing works better for us.

We raised our kids on Chinese food, it is still a family favorite. We eat it every year after church on Christmas Eve. We all have our favorites so we pick it up a lot when I don't feel like cooking. without msg.

Posted by Missy Caulk, Savvy Realtor - Ann Arbor Real Estate (Missy Caulk TEAM) almost 12 years ago

Laura, that sounds like a plan. Tell us more about how to find a chili cook off. I've never been to one. I guess I could Google it, but I'd rather hear about one that was attended and enjoyed. Those are so much more fun because they would be anticipation involved rather than an eeny-meenie-miney-mo selection (LOL).

Skype me!

Posted by Melody Botting, You Deserve The Best (Broker Associate PenFed Realty) almost 12 years ago

Brad, we can hang, bay-bay! I am sooooo down with the good food delivery program (LOL).

I just had a spanking lamb dinner out with the girls at an awesome kosher neighborhood joint that is quite a treat. I am sooooo gonna blog about it later on tonight (as soon as I get my laundry done - LOL).

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) almost 12 years ago

Gary, I wholeheartedly agree with the take-out plan as well. Especially when my hubby and I are trying to merge our schedules. Mike will be retiring with 20 years under his belt soon. Once he transitions out of law enforcement we'll be able to do a lot more AR road trips. I am very excited about the future AR get together we have planned. CT is next on my list. I am counting the days until we can visit the Chesterfield Hotel. Very cool... :-)

Missy, that is awesome! I love Chinese food. I also have a thing for Green Tea. My Russian gal pals are teaching me their customs and how to speak a few phrases, not to mention properly drink Green Tea (LOL). It appears I've been doing it wrong for years (LOL). Too funny!

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) almost 12 years ago

Melodious, my dear-heart, I have to put another laundry load on and I will Skype you in 10. I promise. Soon as I come back from the basement (LOL). Love, C. ;-)

Girl - just let me know when you're coming and I will be waiting with baited breath!  LOL  Maybe Stephen will teach me his dance then.  Mt Kisco is so on the way to Pawling!  I would so love to meet you!  Or - ya never know, we may get some Mets tickets and meet at a game!  How much fun would that be???

How can one drink green tea improperly?????

Carolyn,

Thanks so much for sharing this........just know you are making me extremely hungry after that salad I had for dinnner hours ago........(we don't have any delivery where I live so that may be in my best interest).

Posted by Julie Chapman, New Homes Sales Ormond, New Smyrna, Daytona Be (DR Horton ) almost 12 years ago

Sandy, you are on. We shall have to plot and plan a meet-up. As for the Green Tea, there are rules to how much liquid one may fill into the cup at a time. If one over fills their cup it is bad manners and offensive to the host. That is for another blog post. I need more info from my Russian friends on the customs and rules. :-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) almost 12 years ago

Julie, it may be a blessing, or it may not, depending upon which side of the foodie paradise fence one is seated on (LOL). My next post will be on "Salute," a lovely place to eat and they deliver! :-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) almost 12 years ago

Wow, WHAM - That is so cool and so is the fact that you can get such amazing food delivered to your home FREE.  We can get Pizza, but that's it.  That looks so good too!
