I think that this is awesome and am very proud that my friend has made it available for a re-blog. Thank you, Missy.
I don’t usually shop at Sears, I admit it. (Although I did walk through the other day and found a really cute, hot, lime green peacoat by Lands End.)
But, I am going to shop there this Christmas season. Why?
As a mother of two sons in the Navy, I read and loved Sears support of our military.
Not only do they support our sons and daughters in Active Duty but also those who are in the Reserves. Please take the time to read everything they do for those serving in the military. I had no idea, but they have been doing this for years.
Military Pay Differential and Benefits Continuation
In September 2004, the company extended its military pay differential (fills the gap between military pay and employer pay) and benefits continuation to 60 months for eligible employees called to duty in the Reserves or National Guard.
1) While deployed, eligible employees can:
2) Continue participating in SHC's life insurance, medical and dental programs.
3) Receive annual merit pay increases, incentive pay.
Sears Holding Company which includes KMart holds a comparable position for deployed employees for up to five years. The company has encouraged and supported employees serving in the armed forces for decades.
Records indicate that Sears provided support to employees serving in the military in 1916. Sears pay differential was first instituted in 1990 for Operation Desert Shield-Storm.
I encourage you to read some of the stories of Heros at Home, and how they have helped with wheelchairs, and remodeling of homes.
Any U.S. company, like Sears and K-Mart that is doing so much good for our men and woman serving in the Military are on my shopping list this year.

***Just found out Jamie in the photo above is being deployed in January. He is in the Navy reserves and he had no clue until the phone rang on Wed. morning. ***

You just convinced me. I will be shopping at Sears this year now too! Thank You for reblogging this information-Dinah Lee
Dinah, you are very welcome. I was going to go to the mall for the TV, but when I saw this I just knew I had to go to Sears. I have family in the military and I think that what Sears is doing deserves my support. :-)
Carolyn, thanks for the re-blog. We need to know which companies are out there being good corporate citizens and also supporting our military folks.
Thanks for the great info! I love our troops! Happy Thanksgiving...better late than never! :)
Gary, you are very welcome. ;-)
Midori, I love'em too and thank you. I hope you enjoyed yours with your family. :-)
Yea !!!
I had no idea...I am glad that I read your post, I feel the same way, any company that can support our troops will get my support.
Carolyn,
Thanks for the re-blog. This information will make me go find a Sears and make a purchase.
Hi Carolyn - I missed Missy's post so am glad to have caught yours. Our military - active duty, reserves, and veterans - all deserve our support, as do the stores who do what Sears does. I'll be shopping Sears as well.
Ann
now isn't that wonderful? i actually find the selection of women's clothing not too shabby....but then in Chilliwack - there aren't exactly a lot of boutiques! lol...........but what they're doing down there is obviously fantastic........... for a second i though, your boys aren't that old! then i realized they were missy's! :-)
Missy, ;-)
Thank you, Konnie. :-)
Conrad, you are very welcome. :-)
Thank you, Ann. :-)
Liz, I thought it was as well the moment I read Missy's post. :-)
C - excellent reasons to be shopping somewhere
I'm with you, Big Mike. I was very impressed with the information. Hats off to them. :-)
C- Thanks for sending out the Sears information.
This is great C. I shop at Sears quite a bit, so this is an added bonus! Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.
Carolyn, thank you for enlightening us. This is good info to know. I make it a point to support those who support my family.
K-Mart is much better than Wal-Mart. Their housewares line is superior, their prices are more competitive, AND they are LESS busier than Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is always way too crowded...

This is great stuff C! I received an email that read the same and it was verified on Snopes! I didn't know about K-Mart though. I think all the K-Mart's around me have closed!
I haven't seen one up here in a while either. Cristal, I may have to Google K-Mart to see if we have one.
Regina, Thank you for the invite, I shall go check it out. I think I'm 40 something for groups now and haven't joined anything new recently. The group for special children may have been my last one. I have soooo gotta get back to serial commenting. People are virtual-yelling at me for being "missing in action" (LOL).
Gene, thank you, my Thanksgiving holiday was lovely. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas. May God bless you and your family. :-)
Robin, you are very welcome. :-)
