Club Chaos Eye Candy: Flushing, Queens County, NY Tour of Homes (Vol 7)

"If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one." Mother Teresa

Elizabeth Nieves, the founder of Activist Rain selected that quote as part of her group's description. It is about "one thing... and one thing only: recognizing that ONE PERSON can change the world one simple act of kindness of and love at a time."

Jason Crouch introduced me to Elizabeth's blog. Paddy Pizappi invited me to join her group. After reading the posts published there I found myself wondering what act of kindness I was going to perform today. When you are being spontaneous it is so easy to be kind, but when you are determined to change something for the good of someone else, being deliberate and calculating in your actions to maximize your effectiveness is a whole other ballgame...

Today's Flushing turtle run is dedicated to Jason, Paddy and Elizabeth because they have changed how so many of us feel about blogging in the Rain...

In "Blog Action Day 2008 - POVERTY (Do you have the COURAGE to look at this photograph?" Elizabeth speaks of Kevin Carter and the choices he made that may startle you. In "It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Tell Ten Friends and so on..." Paddy encourages us all to join in the fight against cancer. In "ActiveRain is Amazing - Local Networking Pays Dividends," Jason details how placing relationships first resulted in a wonderful business referral from Russell Lewis. BTW, if you haven't read Russell's blog I highly recommend you do so as well as subscribe to the other members featured. You will not be disappointed. I certainly enjoy them on a daily basis.

Here's a little eye candy from my turtle run. Stay tuned for a tour of Brooklyn Brownstones and Townhouses next.

I read Elizabeth's post & it got me to thinking also.

I loved the pictures of the homes.  Reminds me of when we used to visit my grandparents in NY.  The mean lady next door used to yell at us for stepping on her grass.  That was many, many moons ago.  KM

Thanks for the sharing the pictures of the homes. It's almost time for our Parade of Homes here in Columbia, so all the builders get to show off what they can do.

Great showing of real estate in your area.

Great photos as always Carolyn.  Our home builder's association elected not to have a tour of homes this year......

Carolyn - I really enjoyed getting a chance to speak with you yesterday afternoon.  Hope we can do it again soon!  Thanks so much for the mention and for the link.  I love these pictures.

The pictures are great.  I can't believe how green the lawns are.  Today is the first real rain that we have had in what seems like months.

Carolyn, one of my favorite bumper stickers has always been, "Practice random acts of kindness." Obviously you are that type of person.

I also like the bay windows in the first two. My wife really loved bay windows, even though we never had any.

Carolyn, I loved seeing the photos of Flushing.  When I am called to Queens I always wonder what type of home it is going to be, they are all so different which is part of what I enjoy.

C-Good post and nice pictures. Thanks for sharing with us.

KM, isn't it remarkable that no matter where you live there is always one mean person obsessed with their friggin' lawn? (LOL). What is up with that? Seriously! ;-)  <3 CTS.

JL, you are very welcome. I love when the builders get to show off. I am soooo into new construction and restorations. :-)

Thank you, Robin and Mel. :-)

Julie, it's a shame when they don't do them, I really enjoy those...

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 12 years ago

Thank you, Marie. :-D

I had a lot of fun chatting with you, Jason and look forward to many more conversations. :-)

Erik, glad you enjoyed them. The weather has been a bit hinky as well over here. It's cold, then hot, then warm, then freezing. It rains for five minutes, does nothing for hours, rains for thirty minutes, does nothing for hours. Geez... I don't know how to dress in the morning (LOL).

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 12 years ago

Fred, I love bay windows and hope to have a lovely window seat to go with them when we finally build a home down the road...

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 12 years ago

Carole, I love that about them too. Cookie cutter houses that are not personalized bug me... I like contrasting homes. Makes the neighborhood more interesting...

Good Morning Carolyn: Robes were definitely invented by a woman, a very pratical and smart women. Anyway, yes we should all learn from Momma T and at least feed one person. We in the US are so very very fortunate lets all remember to give and give and give because you can never out give the giver and all we have comes from God. Blessings to you today!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi C!!

I've been running like a crazy person this week. I've been working so hard I have not had a chance to spend time here at AR, and I totally missed this until now.

First of all...THANK YOU for bringing attention to the issue of being responsible for your neighbor. It takes so little to give of yourself. You don't have to be rich...you just have to share what you do have. THANK YOU!!

Secondly...I'm soooooooo glad you joined the group. I'm going to feature this post in 'ACTIVIST' Rain.

GREAT PICS!! I love that architecture!

Posted by Elizabeth Nieves, Bilingual Raleigh - Durham North Carolina Real Estate Team (The Elizabeth Nieves Realty Group) about 12 years ago

Thank you, Elizabeth, the group feature is very much appreciated. Enjoy your evening. Regards, C.

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 12 years ago

Hey C, I am glad that found Elizabeth's group too. There are some other groups on AR as well like Giving Back and Blog for a Cause that show that we Rainers not only care about the state of the world but are willing to pitch in to help change it. How great is that?!

Posted by Tanya Venable, SEO, Mobile SEO, and Internet Marketing Consultant about 12 years ago

Tanya, very cool! Thank you for the links, Miss T. I'm gonna go check them out. :-)
