Club Chaos Video Tour of Homes: Fresh Meadows, Queens County, New York

I wanted to visit my girlfriend Susan Yang today, but she was not at home. So, rather than waste the trip, I decided it would be the perfect time to take Stephen out on a community walk around the neighborhood. I was hoping my girlfriend would get back in time for a small visit, but alas, it was not to be. Since I had the handy-cam batteries charged, I decided why use the Nikon when I could simply shoot video in very small clips while walking the streets with the little minion blur. We had a very nice time enjoying the mid day sunshine and Noah enjoyed helping me digitally slice the images for dragging the clips onto the storyboard and time-line. Noah was also a great help with arranging the music. Unlike my last post, he actually let me keep the bass track this time (LOL). Please excuse the lack of a tripod. When you are walking with an unpredictable two year old carrying a diaper bag and bribe munchies, sometimes you have to make an executive decision. ;-)

That was pretty cool....I like that idea using small clips...comes out cleaner and smoother :)

Thank you, Marie. I am working on making them shorter so the file can be smaller when I upload to Mixpo. I am determined to get them under 2 minutes instead of over.  :-)

Thank you, Richard. I'm learning more about combining effects every week. I discovered Mixpo can't handle all of the Avid effects, so I have to keep experimenting to figure out what transitions are suitable and which ones cause the images to either hang or wig out during the upload to the server. :-)

Thank you, C Sally C. I've discovered that really small clips of ten seconds or less seem to work well when one doesn't have a tripod. The minimum clip should be six seconds. The shortest video transitions usually take 1 second, so if there is a transition on each end of a clip a person only views three to four full seconds of the image. :-)

Carolyn, I love those stately homes in Queens!  They are all so unique and have real charm.   I really enjoyed the video!

I like the video and I enjoyed the musical choice even more!

That turned out well, C, even witih carrying crap and minding minions. Hey, is this something I can shoot with my new Nikon? Is it hard to make a video and add music to it? My husband doesn't know anything about videos, so I can't ask him. Please don't make me read the manual.

I love the homes, though. They are similar to the homes in Land Park and East Sacramento. Bungalows, Craftsmans and Tudors. Fresh Meadows sounds like something you would eat.

Niiice!!

What a lovely neighborhood -- Shade trees, green lawns, architecturally interesting, well-kept homes!

Carolyn:  You really go the extra mile!!!  Can I ask what kind of camera that is????  This is a great idea.

How very cool!! The area is gorgeous...and I'm REALLY impressed if you get these kind of results with a toddler in tow. GBU!

C, that brought back memories.  I always had the Little Tyke Cozy Coupe car at my office when my boys were little.  They would sit in that car for hours.  They also had a little make shift desk next to mine that I made from two wooden boxes nailed together.  Max would work at his desk and I would work at mine.  Great pictures.  It goes by fast.  Enjoy it.

Jeremy, I'm glad you liked our little ditty to go with the video. I've been trying to compose soft, gentle music with Noah and he seems to be taking it well. I think he would prefer head-bagging or something with a zooming beat, but slowing him down was good (LOL). I love my Korg N364 and I love Sony Acid 4.0!

Elizabeth, it is not hard at all! You'd love it! Give it a shot. Email me with a time that will be good for you in the afternoon and I will call you and try to help walk you through getting started. I was thinking of upgrading my handy-cam. I'm scoping ebay to see if I can get a good deal on a store floor model. :-)

Elizabeth N., thank you. M&Ms are the secret to my success (LOL). Stephen is crazy about the ones with the peanuts in them. He will not stray if you hold the bag just out of his reach. He will stand at attention and watch your hand like a hawk anticipating his next reward. At some point I always let him carry his little packet after he's eaten half (and after I show him there is another pack waiting). He will stick to you like glue in anticipation of another bag. My family loves chocolate! :-)

Thank you, Val. I love Fresh Meadows. I have quite a few friends who live in the area and to visit them is always a treat. It's right next to Briarwood, so I don't have to travel far. :-)

Susan, I'm loving the fact that I can enjoy being a Realtor with my kids in tow. They make work very interesting. Sometimes I have to get another broker or friend to help me watch them because they do not always cooperate. My children are very self directed (LOL).

C - great pictures, the video didn't work for me though. Just went through another firefox update and for some reason video and audio doesn't work well whenever I do that. So, I did manually move through.
