How Much Do You Blog? I'm missing the letters off my keyboard...

Amanda Hall and Melody Botting taught me the fine art of serial commenting. We play blog tag across the blogosphere and will even playfully banter across several AR posts while we tweet and Skype away on the side. We talk so much on and off line that our keyboards no longer have all of their letters on them. Several of my keys are bald: E, R, T, I, O, A, S, and N. I can't believe they no longer have any letters on them, but it's true...

How much do you love Active Rain?

Do you blog until your letters rub off?

Show me your keyboards if you dare.

I'll show you mine if you show me yours!

Feel free to post your keyboard photographs in the comment sections. I'd love to hear your take on today's talking points. This should be very interesting (LOL). I for one adore AR and start my morning checking on my fav bloggers and friends. I am very happy to report that I'm comfy with my balding keyboard. It is a gentle reminder of how much I love my little minions, relatives, Club Chaos family and my brick and mortar friends as well as working with my computer as a Paralegal, Notary Public and Realtor.. ;-)

Enjoy your day playing in the Rain and remember to be kind and have fun with your commenting. I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing all about those "battered keyboards."

Regards, Carolyn.

I get carried away with blogging too.  I am trying to cut back some in order to get some real work done.  It does get a little addictive. :-)

Posted by Rob Arnold, Metro Orlando Full Service - Investor Friendly & F (Sand Dollar Realty Group, Inc.) about 10 years ago

None of mine are warn off C but some of them are not responding too well.  Like my shift key on the left side and some of the letters.  It is probably from blogging while eating, a favorite time to get two things done at once, LOL.  I guess it's time to clean the darn thing again.  Have a great weekend Sis!

Posted by Paddy (Patricia) Pizappi, Real Estate Associate Broker Hudson Valley NY (Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty) about 10 years ago

Rob, I know exactly what you mean. I always seem to have four to six screens up and I'm tabbing along back and forth between them. I literally am working and playing the day away. :-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

Sister P, I can not begin to tell you how many time juice was spilled into these keys by a minion (LOL). I've also sprayed and sputtered my drink a few times laughing at something you and the gang have quipped in a fun, hip and pithy way. :-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

Actually C - I JUST had the laptop keyboard replaced because not only were the letters gone, but I wore the whole keyboard OUT!   I used to work in a pretty high-tech field where I did a lot of work on computer. A lot of powerpoint presentations - tons of excel spreadsheets and charts with a lot of statistical analysis.  Photography (from lab experiements - a whole different game) - you name it.  NEVER wore out a keyboard like that. Lost letters - but I never needed to actually replace the thing.

Posted by Ruthmarie Hicks (Keller Williams NY Realty - 120 Bloomingdale Road #101, White Plains NY 10605) about 10 years ago

Ruthmarie, now that is priceless! (LMAO) OMG - I have tears in my eyes imagining you blowing through your electronics (ROTFL). Thank you, sweetie. I am soooo crazy about you and your blog. Looking forward to planning a play date really soon. It would be so nice to finally have a face to go with your name, not to mention spending a little time together. :-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

Carolyn ~ That keyboard looks like you got all the bad letters in Scrabble! : )  Luckily, because I divide my time between my laptop and the computer at "the day job", I don't have any fading or missing letters.

Posted by Kathy Passarette, L.I. Staging/Decorating (Creative Home Expressions) about 10 years ago

I can still read my letters on THIS laptop...but I did kill my last computer. YUPPERS...I LOVE AR! GBU!

Posted by Elizabeth Nieves, Bilingual Raleigh - Durham North Carolina Real Estate Team (The Elizabeth Nieves Realty Group) about 10 years ago

Was expecting to click on comments & see keyboards GALORE.  I got none??!!  So, here's mine (all my equipment was at my fingertips so I couldn't resist).

I am simply amazed at the amount of junk you can see under mr. spacebar here.  Either my camera is really good at details or it needs to be cleaned.  What the heck have I been doing on this poor thing?  He still has all his letter though...he almost didn't have a life after booting me out 27 times last night.

Posted by Kristin Moran, San Antonio,TX - Real Estate - 210-313-7397 (Owner - RE/MAX Access - KristinMoran@Remax.net) about 10 years ago

Kathy, too funny! You are very lucky, indeed. I've been trying to stay off my laptop lately because I really do not want to fade those letters away as well (LOL). Maybe I should start spending a little more time on the computer in my REMAX office to give my HP a break. I love working from my home office. It's nice being available to "monitor" the minion activity. [Translated: easier to deal with small increments of minion blur destruction than to come home to a full blown accumulated package of high-jinx and mayhem. :-) ]

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

Oooo Elizabeth, you sound as if you are in the same bloggers boat as Ruthmarie! (LOL) There have been times I have feared for my hard-drive. I have so many video clips and photographs to edit I've almost filled the 500G. We've been burning movies so I call pull some of the images off of the drive to make more room. However, deleting parts of my Amazon Unbox collection was very difficult for me. I love my movies and fav TV shows. Unfortunately, I can't watch real television, my kids wont let me.  Five minutes in and they are popping in the Disney DVDs like no one else exists in the room (LOL). We watch Internet TV all of the time and no longer mind them taking the sets over. :-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

YAY! Kristin to the rescue! I finally got a keyboard!!! Nice laptop sweetie! You were getting booted too? Geez. I was getting really frustrated. I did quite a bit of commenting across the board, but I lost a lot of comments too. Oh well, I shall pick up where I left off (LOL). I am glad to see one of my TX lovelies on-line. How are you guys holding up over there with the storm coming through? Be careful, sweetie. Do what ever you need to do to keep safe.

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

Well. I use a laptop. Letters are still there. I guess I have not blogged enough. Royal..

Posted by Royal Goodman, "We Treat You Like a King" (Royalty Home Solutions) about 10 years ago

Well my husband tells me I spend way too much time on the rain...I am actually on a blogging schedule and have broken all the rules recently...I know a couple of things

I need my buds because they inspire my writing and if I do not post regularly it affectes my seo...my letters on the keyboard are still visible.

Posted by Midori Miller, Digital Marketing Director (Talk 2 Midori, LLC) about 10 years ago

Royal, I would not say that at all. My letters are still on my laptop keyboard (LOL). I take that puppy with me almost everywhere I go. :-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

All my letters are still intact so my keyboard would be totally uninteresting to look at.  Unless you like looking at coffee stains.

Posted by Shirley Parks, Broker, 210-414-0966, San Antonio TX Real Estate (Sands Realty 210-414-0966) about 10 years ago

Midori, that is a good thing. I wish my letters were still visible... :-) I am still working in 20 minute intervals. What is your blogging schedule like? I really enjoy reading your blog and am glad to hear your friends inspire you as well. Sometimes having one conversation, or hearing a joke will get me going and I'll run off and fire off a blog before I forget what it is that I would like to say. I was joking so much with the girls about these missing letters I couldn't resist blogging about it. Mel and Mandy may be missing in action for a while. They have "hunkering down" plans. ;-). God bless them, they are having some fun down in TX. Can't wait to join them and have an AR blogfest (LOL).

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

That is a well used keyboard!  Seal it in a plastic bag, or use rubber gloves when you type HAHA!!!

In my past job I popped off a couple of letters on my bosses keyboard and rearranged them.  It took almost all day before he relized he was a victim of a prank.

Posted by Chad Baird (Re/Max Spirit) about 10 years ago

Shirley, can you see ink blot images in those coffee stains? How old are they? Inquiring minds want to know. ;-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

Chad, too funny! Oh my word, I can imagine a very interesting scenario behind that one. Haaaa!

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

My 2 home computers are fairly new, so the letters are all pretty good.  But like Paddy, the keys on my laptop seem to get worn out sometimes.  I'll be on-line, typing for hours, then all of a sudden my spacebar, c, t and r will stop working.  If I restart the computer they work again.  Talk about frustrating.. I can deal with worn out letters, I type so fast, I never even look at the keys anyway!!!

Posted by Becky Cook, Ulster County, NY- New Paltz, Highland, Marlboro, NY Real Estate (EXIT Realty Services- New Paltz, NY) about 10 years ago

FYI, my letters are all fine, but then I upgrade every time something new comes out. (daughter use to work for DELL)  I like my home office for doing computer type work b/c I can jump in and out of projects.  I save the professional stuff for the real office, the paper pushing and such.  I am doing the NO BLOGGER LEFT BEHIND series and stayed home this morning to get caught up.  be good  cw

Hi C,

Needless to say, I don't blg nearly as much as you all do. Nor do I touch type. I would be at a loss without key identification. Thus, I use a protective keyboard cover.

It also helps contain the crumbs. LOL

Posted by Harold "Hal" Place (A1 Connection Realty, Inc.) about 10 years ago

Becky, I wish I could type without looking at the keys consistently. Sometimes I do very well, sometimes I don't. Such is life with little kids running around, climbing up and down. :-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

Cheryl, sounds like you have it going on with those upgrades. Very cool! I used to do that but at some point I had to decide why I was upgrading when I wasn't buying new software. When I discovered I was comfortable with my lastest HP I stopped. (The laptop was a gift from my girlfriend Cindy and runs like a dream.)

Although there are some really cool new systems to buy out on the market, I find I'm happy with the current network set up in my home. It does exactly what I want it to do, which is very cool. However, if I ever buy a program that will not run on my systems, then I would have to really consider dumping the program or doing the upgrade. :-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

Hal, very cool. I wish I could use a protective keyboard cover. My kids will not let me keep anything for long. Half the time I can't find the phone they've taken off my desk (LOL). We wont even mention what happens to our car keys in my home. ;-)

My girl, Kristin! You ROCK! :-) Make sure you have everything you need, sweetie. We are hearing a lot of drama up here about the Ike projections down there. I've been keeping tabs and thinking about every single one of you. I will email you about playing phone tag after I pick Noah up from school. I would love to call conference with you, Sheila and Deb later. Yall can all yell at me at once (LOL) or not! :-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

Ha! I just bought another one a few months ago because there were no letters...milkshake spills had made them sticky and all because of blogging. Now I have a little more balance ...cut out the milkshakes....(high blood sugar) and no longer call my kids to drive me over food and stuff because I'm 'too busy' to cook :)

Posted by Celeste "SALLY" Cheeseman, (RA) AHWD CRS ePRO OAHU HAWAII REAL ESTATE (Liberty Homes) about 10 years ago

omg!  Your letters really are missing!  I don't blog quite as much as you girls.  How do you find the time to twitter, stitter, my space or what ever else is out there?  That plus everyone has kids.  I need my sleep and am guessing that is maybe when you girls find the dime.  I seem to go on a roll.  I have a million blog ideas in my head but mostly by the time I sit down to write them, I become unispired, or something!  Hopefully I will catch up, now that I am all moved!

Posted by Cristal Drake, Realtor - Fullerton Real Estate (Prudential California Realty) about 10 years ago

Carolyn, you know they make new keyboards, don't you. That is why mine isn't worn off, I keep changing it out. Sally, no milkshakes near the keybord......bad, bad. :-D

Posted by Fred Chamberlin, Oak Harbor/Whidbeynulls, #1 Experienced FHA Mortgage Consultant (Guild Mortgage Co - Oak Harbor WA) about 10 years ago

C, I have a newer laptop (actually I have two) so haven't quite worn the keys down yet. You, Mandy, and Mel are working in overdrive with the Skype and Tweeter and personally I hope I never get to that level. It wears me out you talking about it LOL. But hey it is great to stay in close contact with everyone. Me, I try to hide out below the radar, cause I love my peace and quiet.

Thank youHello! I just wanted to stop by and say hi since you were kind enough to visit me! I must say; I can not post my keyboard... it is a new baby and has no AR scares yet. I will post a picture after it has been around the AR community a little more. You sound like a FUN person and look forward to seeing more of you! Brenda :)

Posted by Brenda Tressler (Crye-Leike Realtors) about 10 years ago

Love it!! Too funny that the lettering on your keys are disappearing. But, it really doesn't surprise me!! :) Keep it up - I so enjoy your blogs and energy! As you know, I'm not real productive when it comes to blogging - but you do inspire me!!

Posted by Deborah Burroughs about 10 years ago

C Sally C, you go girl! That is a very neat trick. Milkshakes, eh? My fav! Too busy to cook? Hmm... very interesting (LOL). Take care of the HBS, sweetie. Looking forward to your next post. C. :-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

Cristal, it is so easy when you work in 20 minute intervals. 3 tasks an hour is not bad.  I usually have at least four screens up simultaneously while I bog: AR, Twitter, an email account and either Facebook or Skype. I tab between them, recreationally reading and responding to people. It gives me a pretty good idea of what is going on and sometimes is hysterically funny when I'm blogging with my friends on a conference call. That is all I'm gonna say about that (LMAO). Dare I say you should try it? Go ahead, give it a whirl girl! I will call you later and see how you like it (LOL) C. ;-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

Fred, too funny and very true (ROTFL). I'm just soooo attached to the original unit! (giggle). I shall strive to detach myself and buy another keyboard (as soon as I rub off a few more letters). Love, C.

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

Gary, Gary, Gary, you said peace and quiet. I have two minions. No such thing in my home unless every male resident is sleeping at the same time (LOL). Wishful thinking on my part... :-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

Oooo... Mel said BigLots... (ROTFLMAO) I am sooo gonna shut my mouth and not say anything else... ;-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

Cheryl G, too funny! Work and play is always a nice combination if you can get away with it. The home office makes it possible. I certainly would not be able to howl with laughter at my REMAX office. I would definitely disturb the peace. :-D

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

How funny.  Unfortunately, I'm a bad blogger - my keys don't get as much use as they should.  Time management....that is what I need to work on.  When ever I think about time management, I remember your post about time management.  Working in 20 minute increments.

But, guess what....I am capable of blogging while hurricane force winds are blowing around outside. Granted, the Lord has blessed me to still have electricity at my house.

For ninety-nine cents you can buy little stickers for your keyboard to replace the wiped out letters:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GE16LW

I bought mine last June, but some of them are rubbed off again. I don't understand it. I took my laptop in for repair a few weeks ago and asked the guy how come my keys are losing the whiteness of their letters.

He said, "Um, because you type too much?"

Deborah, you are productive, just on another level and you should only do what you are comfortable doing, sweetie. I love watching you evolve and can't wait to see what interests you next. That is one of my favorite things about blogging. You get to write about what interests you and find out what you're friends are up to. I get to see what you see through your eyes. That is always fascinating. That's why I love eye candy! :-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

Sondra, I am very glad that you are okay and still have electricity. I tried calling. Sorry I missed you. Will try to play phone tag with you again. One thing I can say for certain is YOU are not a bad blogger. Where on earth are these "bad blogger" ideas coming from? Don't make me fly over there and spank you! You take gorgeous pictures to boot! Wassup lady? You're freakin' GREAT! SERIOUSLY! I happen to love your blog. SO THERE! (LOL)

BTW, I adore you, too. ;-)

Elizabeth, too funny. Between blogging, writing a 50,000 word book, writing for About.com, etc I can definitely  say the young man made a very dry but astute point (LMAO). I bet the expression to go with that line was priceless! How's the book coming along? BTW, I owe you a phone call. I will try and buzz you when my kids calm down. They are in rare form today. :-0

Oh, I think I'm going to win the prize. :)

Notice the missing "Z" - a certain irony in that!  The optical mouse is because the built in mouse died.  This laptop is two and a half years old.  I do have a desk top.  And a new laptop for the office.  But this one is my fave.

Posted by Margaret Mitchell, Seacoast Maine & NH Real Estate (Coldwell Banker Yorke Realty) about 10 years ago

When I had a black keyboard, the white numbers wore down and it was impossible to read them.  Never had any trouble with the white keyboards, but then I am not quite at 10,000 blogging points yet so maybe that's why!

Posted by Janna Scharf, Coeur d'Alene Idaho Real Estate Expert (Keller Williams Realty Coeur d'Alene) about 10 years ago

Oh my word! Margaret is in the house! Check out those missing letters! I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy! That is too cool, M. Your fav, eh? We can definitely hang, bay-bay. That's gonna be pretty hard to top cause girlfriend is still typing away on that puppy! Yay! I love my laptop as well. I refuse to give it up.

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

My dear Janna, the more addicted you become to blogging the more battered your keyboard will become (LOL). This also holds true for video games. My husband is killing his computer keyboard playing World of Warcraft. I can't even type an email over there. The keys and space bar stick all of the time (LOL).

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) about 10 years ago

My mouse, right click and left click buttons are worn out like picture above.

Posted by Christopher Webster, Columbia South Carolina Real Estate For Sale (Carrington Real Esate Services) about 10 years ago

Chris, you have got to email me and tell me how you got those huge letters in the comment section. Fascinating (LOL). I can not keep a mouse for long. If I'm not clicking it to death, my children will finish it off as if it is their mission in life. At least Noah knows what he is selecting. Stephen just clicks on icons because that's what he observes us do. The computer can be shut down and Step will sit in my chair clicking away. He appears to like the sound it makes. :-)

Raylene, I know exactly what you mean. I know which keys I have to hit just a tad harder than the others to get it to work properly. I know what spot I have to tap the space bar on to get a single space and not a double. I am very comfortable with the way the springs feel and realize if I replace this board typing is going to feel "foreign" to my fingers. (LOL)

Who knows how long it will take me to break another keyboard in... :-)
