Club Chaos Eye Candy: Court of States, Flushing Meadows Corona Park

I'm addicted to my turtle runs in the morning. I can't imagine my day without having a slow jog with my Nikon. There are so many beautiful sites to see in my neck of the woods known as Queens County. Truth is, each borough has something special to offer. They all have a soul and flavor that is very unique. We are talking eye candy, people. Did I mention I am a visual person? I think I did, but I'll say it again, in case I did not. Being an artist has its perks when you  live in New York City, and one of the biggest benefits of being a native New Yorker is you know where to go to get your visual fix if need be. So today I am going to share one of my favorite places to be and let you see how much eye candy the Court of Sates in Flushing Meadow Corona Park can be. Enjoy!

C- that's some extremely appealing I candy. No outside jogging (ok, I admit, I don't jog anymore, but I do walk) until October when the steam bath goes away.

Hey. Those are all wonderful pictures. I think that could motivate me to run. Have a great weekend, Jim

Carolyn ~ Do you still go when it's humid out?  Love the pictures though; those gardens make me feel cool just looking at them.  I'd be sitting on one of those benches under the trees!

Hey Big Mike, walking is great! I walk with the kids all the time. Good exercises!

Hey Jim and Maria, thank you!

Hey Kathy, if the weather is not right I stay in because I don't want to accidentally get hurt. Poor conditions have a way of sneaking up on a person and could cause unintended havoc with mature constitutions like mine. :-)

Beautiful pictures!  What's a turtle run?  If it were me saying it, I would mean that I run about as fast as a turtle, but maybe it's something different for you?

Pam, that is exactly the gist of it. A "turtle run" is a slow, easy comfortable gait. It started when I discovered that Stephen's stroller is not equipped to handle a fast pace, so I've locked myself into "granny-stepping" and my two year old loves it. Even if he isn't with me, my body has adjusted to the easy pace and now my "turtle run" is my "normal speed' whether the kids are with me or not. Besides being more forgiving on my joints, I was pleased to discover it also gives me more time to notice interesting details, so if I pause to snap a picture it is super easy to slip right back into the jog and move on.

You have lots of beautiful scenery to take in, so that works out just great!

Yes it does, Pam. It provides really nice motivation...

C, I don't want to make you feel too young or anything, but I was standing in front of this Unisphere thing when it was brand new with a brownie camera in my hand taking the same picture. You're taking me back down memory lane. I'm tripping, for sure. You're crossing paths where my footsteps have gone before you.

Gary, that is a very cool thing. Thank you!

Very nice photos, Carolyn.  I have yet to make it to that end of the country...so, I keep accumulating places that I want to see.  At this point, I have enough on the list to make sure I dont come home for a year or two...lol

Thank you, Clint! I know exactly what you mean about wanting to travel. I'm looking forward to our next road trip in August. There will be lots of beautiful places to blog about and good friends to keep company. :-)
