Life With Wee People: Battling the bug...

The plan was to share our Indialantic adventures but a social media gal pal accidentally sent me a virus that had my digital knickers tied in a knot for days. My laptop refused to start. I was in loop hell staring at this screen:

"Your computer was unable to start," is a phrase I never want to read ever again. I had to format the drive and go back to factory settings (sigh). I've been dragging and dropping files off my Passport drive for a couple of hours now... There's a bunch of stuff missing because I usually back my files up approximately every 15 days or so. I'm really bent out of shape. Now I have to start backing up my files every freakin' day.

The wee people understand the dangers of being infected by a computer virus. They were not happy to discover their musical gibberish was gone. They've been recording tracks all evening (effectively kicking me out of my home office - LOL). I guess this is my cue to bring the kids their keyboard the next time I visit New York.

Noah was not happy about the delay with his children's book (we lost the last two sets of PDFs). Being an enterprising little bugger, he decided to give me something new to illustrate so I gotta go get comfy on my sleeping bag and sketch some new pages to watercolor. I asked Mike to buy more canvas because the shorties are going to abstract paint a couple of album covers for La Femme Art and uberMental. Got new music singles/albums coming out and a couple of manuscripts to hand over to our Editors (silly grin).

I also have furniture I need to put together and pictures to frame/hang on the walls plus more packages to go out. Then it's back to NYC to pick up more of our stuff and deliver new art for my next gallery show. I really need my Mac and HP. I also want the electronic drums. Having the drum set means I can get my keyboards back because the wee people are great at banging on things (and will have at it for hours - LOL).

Gotta go draft and eventually post book club. We read seven really cool books and have been drooling over the next Kim Harrison hard cover. I have to quit messing around and get my tour tee shirt. We're plotting and planning vacation so we can go. ;-)

Life with the Wee People is certainly challenging.  I hope you soon are able to enjoy some time off and take your vacation.

Thank you, Joan. I've never been to Palm Beach or Miami so I'm sitting here with a very silly/happy grin looking forward to it. :-)

Wow that really bites!!!  Hope all is back and running very soon!!  I love all the creativity in your house!

Been there done that.  I feel for you! My computer hard drive crashed several years ago and it cost me $3500 to recover to a new computer.  It took 3 weeks for a company in California to revive it.  Now I use on line back up CARBONITE in addition to hard backups.  Carbonite backs it up by the minute.  It should be more frequently, but the Hard drive backup is once every two or three weeks.  From the Land of Aloha!

Deborah, I'm still stewing over this. Turns out two of my websites are down as well (sigh). I have to upgrade and fix them...

Bruce, when I get my tower down here I'm going to tweak it into server duty and trigger a back-up every five minutes. I'm going to be trapped in the house for the next couple of days trying to put my files back in order. It totally whomps...

So sorry C.  Hope all is well with you all down there in chilly FL besides the computer issues that is.  Happy New Year.

Thanks, Paddy! I'm sitting at the dining room table with my dummy guides trying to make sure I don't miss anything vital (oops - too late - LOL). Happy New Years! ;-)

I sympathize.  I got a wicked virus on my desktop a few weeks ago and am still trying to find my shortcuts. Also have a few more issues - I have a feeling it will never be the same.

Then I spilled a cup of coffee all over my laptop keyboard day before yesterday. Needless to say - it died.

My plan was to replace both with a MacBook but that wasn't going to happen for a couple of years - my stuff was still fairly newish and working great.  Until now.

I am not a happy camper either.  :-(

In any event - I wish you and your family a safe, healthy and prosperous 2012!  :-)  This should be the least of our problems.

Sandy, May God bless you and make this a fabulous year. You have my tech empathy and sympathy in spades. Seriously so... this is really challenging. My kids have killed the IBM and Sony V so I'm rooting for my Toshiba to survive this social media blunder (LOL). :-)
