Life With Wee People: Fifty Cents Tuesday

Life With Wee People: Fifty Cents Tuesday

Carolyn Tann Starr 2011

So I'm in the garage sweeping, mopping, hunting for creepy-crawlies (because Florida is full of live things perfectly happy to set up residence in your house) when Mikey pokes his head through the laundry door to inform me it's Fifty Cents Tuesday. That's the part of the show where the movie theater in the Palm Bay Mall lets you watch movies all day for $0.50 per ticket.

The kids get very excited because we want to see Puss-and-Boots, however 30 seconds later the squabbling begins... Noah (Mr. Autism) wants to take the station wagon (his fave ride). I (the anal retentive ADD mommy) want my sedan. Stephen (Mr. PDD-NOS) wants The Big Hot Wheel. Hubby (who has us for issues) has to break the three way tie so of course we decided to take the Mustang beach-side to Indialantic for dinner after taking my car "shopping-cart-side" to the mall for our lunch time entertainment.

How wicked was that round of reasoning? (evil grin) There is a method to my madness. Translated: I like using my own bathroom and had the boys go before we switched cars. Besides, it's got less miles than our fingers and toes so we all agree it needs to do something besides sit on our lawn, block the play side of the drive and/or sleep in The Man Cave (silly grin).

Discovering the movie was really only $0.47 cents and the 3 penny tax brought it up to $0.50 was my gawking New Yorker moment of the day. Our snackage was $15 so they're not stupid (very shrewd marketing move - LOL). ;-)

Were we tempted to stay all day and just hop from movie to movie? You betcha! However, if we watch them all what are we going to do for the next Fifty Cent Tuesday? They do this a lot which is waaaaaaay cooooooool! :-)

It's an excellent movie with some really fun jokes so do go see it if you haven't already. I can't wait to buy the DVD when it comes out. My kids have an extensive movie collection. They like scripting and both suffer from Echolalia. On our way to Indialantic for dinner Stephen, the Blur Minion was horrified to discover the back windows in Mikey's Mustang do not open. Shorty also has limited visibility and made quite a stink about not being able to sit in the middle so he could see. "There is no middle" immediately replaced the "Are we there yet?" conversation (oh horror - LOL).

Thank goodness we're only minutes away from the ocean (happy sigh). Gotta go. My Editor is expecting chapters and January is only days away. If I want to make my deadline I have to spend more time offline and working (LOL). Will blog about our Indialantic adventure tomorrow. I have more eye candy to share... ;-)

Awesome pictures! Oh, the beach...that looks so awesome right now!  :)

Robyn, between that and 5 bucks for a whole pizza pie I'm like "Oooooooo... Ahhhhhhhh" (LOL) ;-)

Thanks, Lynn. It's been bouncing between 70 - 85 degrees over here. I'm a snow bunny so I'm jealous I'm not at a ski spot with my girlfriends (LOL). I'm going back to NYC on business in January so I may get to roll in the snow before I come back to FL. Will post lots of beach shots tomorrow and show off a few hoods. Looking for office space has sight-seeing perks. ;-)

Richard, it's one of those shockingly cool unbelievable moments that births a big, stupid happy grin (LOL). ;-)

50 cent uesdayis a marvelous idea. Not sure how the theater can afford it, especially with fairly recent movies - however, the overpriced snacks really help. LOL

Posted by Anne M. Costello (Weidel Realtors) almost 7 years ago

50 cents for a movie...you're definitely not in NY anymore!

Posted by Jesse Skolkin (Independent New York State Certified Real Estate Appraiser) almost 7 years ago

LOL @ Anne. I think selling snackage makes lots of revenue. ;-)

Jesse, it's like being in another country down here. I keep staring at $10 sneakers wondering, "Whats wrong with them. Why aren't they $50???" (LMAO)

I'm looking for a new book to read... suggestions?

Posted by Laura Cerrano, Certified Feng Shui Expert, Speaker & Researcher (Feng Shui Manhattan Long Island) almost 7 years ago

And to think, I was excited about getting $25 Converse's at the outlet center!

Posted by Jesse Skolkin (Independent New York State Certified Real Estate Appraiser) almost 7 years ago

Laura, Book Club is in progress. Will let you know what literary mischief we've been up to soon (evil grin).

LOL @ Jesse. We're exploring after-Christmas sales and they're fabulous. I have a lot to blog about and need to finish getting rid of some spam comments so I can get back to the fun business of spoofing on my blog. ;-)
