Life With Wee People: Stephen, the Minion Blur strikes again...
I love the fall... watching the colors come in is always a fascinating process because collecting eye candy is one of my favorite habits. My kids have me on assignment. My mission is to collect images of fall so they can see the colors change. I'm on Skype having a field day setting up my travel schedule because the wee people are the boss of me and our last conversation was about my latest round of illustrations and tree hunting.
When you tree hunt, not just any tree will do. My PDD-NOS 5 year old is into smell, color and texture. Sometimes I think certain aspects of his learning disability is going to make him friggin' brilliant if I can keep channeling his positive anal retentive traits into something useful. He works for M&Ms, Hot Wheel Cars and movies. I sometimes work for food too and you can get a lot out of me with the right Hagen Daz bribe (silly grin) but I digress...
Stephen, the Minion Blur is not just the boss of my music, he's also the boss of what goes up on the New York City gallery walls when I start a project (LOL). I have been painting portraits since 5AM and looking forward to our next Skype video sessions because he's mad funny and gives short, snappy answers (LOL). Little Dude will be checking in with me in a few minutes to make the next round of selections from my sketchbooks. I'm waiting for the boys to get home which means I'll have to hang out in Starbucks for at least another hour before I can get back to painting and drawing. I'm comfy with my gal pals and we're about to get the bookies together for another round of snarky, anti-intelligent conversation (evil grin).
FYI: Shorty is turning into quite the little Skype Monster and likes Book Club. He makes me hold my laptop up and turn the camera 360 degrees so he can observe what is happening in Starbucks besides watching Mama. If I cut out on him too early he actually Skypes the neighbors and cycles through our blogging friends until I get back on-line. Yup. My 5 year old has discovered how to track me down without knowing how to read (silly grin). Aint social media grand? ;-)
My previous wee people assignment was to find Jenk's Tree. Little Dude is crushing on the Kim Harrison Pale Demon book cover. He calls her RED and always has a pixie question (LOL). My fault entirely. I'm still trying to learn how to draw pixies so my kids are supervising that bit of mischief as well. Guess who had to stay on Skype while jogging all over the eastern seaboard showing Little Man the park trees because Jenks needs a tree? I'm still trying to explain the concept of Stump to him but if blessing and kissing trees makes him happy then I'm blessing and kissing trees (happy silly grin).
Yeah... I know... I am soooo easily amused. If you have little people you should try playing in Skype with them when you're out and about. If your kids are anything like my curious kids they will take to the sneak peeks and shopping sessions like the cultivated little cyberminions they are (LOL). You may want to spank me later for being stuck in the Thomas the Train isle for an hour, but hey - babies are worth it, eh? I love seeing his eyes light up when I find just the right car for his collection. I also like being ordered to the zoo to see the elephants when I'm a thousand miles away (LOL).
This gorgeous old tree is located in Maryland. We will be chatting about it in Book Club later because Shorty wants a Kim-Stream song and has dubbed this Jenk's Tree. Yeah... Book Club Blues (Vol.02) is in progress and Step is supervising as usual. We have some really cool author tribute tracks in progress. ;-)
P.S. Going jogging again... We're arguing over possible album covers for the single and I have a social media date to view a historic grave yard in Pittsburgh PA. My kids are gonna love that (LOL). I was also ordered to find boats in Ann Arbor. Hmm... May need to Google that (LOL). Did I mention we like exploring during the fall? Can you say AR Road Trip? ;-)
