Monster Mocha Morning Meme
The meme questions started at 7:26 this morning. Hmm...
Okay... I will answer them and throw something gratuitous from my vintage art creations in for the curious who can't believe I wrote this Art In America post and FAILED to post a single sketch or painting of the new, cool stuff going on in my apartment. That is because the sole link took readers to the Ward Nasse Gallery Artists page and I have plans for the next set of artistic revelations. There's forty-two canvases in various states of completion going on people. That's a lot of painting and sketching. If I didn't tease you guys some of you might think something was wrong with me. Anticipation is part of the fun... (LOL).
Pssst... those are me and my friends on that Artist page so go click on some names then click on the pictures of the work to view them. The Manhattan crew has a lot of nice work there so think of it as a visual treasure hunt if you have time to randomly explore.
Yup. There are a whole series of new, fun portraits in progress of my current set of victims gorgeous model buddies and crazy blogging friends leaning all over the walls, a coffee table and my drafting table. I even have some urban fantasy art going on by the futon (and until recently I never indulged in UF art - what was I thinking? - it's kind of fun - silly grin).
The gym crew is starting to line up for that bit of artistic mischief... I think some of the guys just want to mess with my little sword collection (LOL). My girlfriends have their own firearms so they are not really interested in my swords, however they do like my knife collection... What can I say? Small, concealed weapons make us happy when we have girlie-girlie day at the fun house and range (LOL). ;-)
I can't do late night in Starbucks today because I have several pen and inks to finish. I've been pretty careful about keeping a wrap on most of the new images because we have to coordinate the releases with the launch of specific gallery shows, magazine ads and the film project. I'm totally in artist mode today, but will confess to being a wee bit lazy sitting in Starbucks staring at my schedule trying to figure out possible show dates between monitoring my social media accounts and reading contracts... While I figure out if I want to do another group or a one woman show, let's answer some of these e-mails, SMS and DMs piling up. It's been a while since I indulged in a meme... I'm over due, but don't tag me again for any new ones, okay? (LOL) :-)
Since we're having lunch at Starbucks I'm planning on going over to Nydia's later for dinner. She has all 168 book club selections on her computer and her hubby Mico has them on his Kindle. We love talking books and always announce when we make a new purchase. I love her family. We've been buddies for 19 years and April 15th will be our 20 year anniversary as friends. The cool thing about having good friends who love books is that when I'm done reading/re-reading 'em and need more space on my bookshelves her family gives my hard cover and paperback books a new home. We all keep passing our books along to our loved ones. It makes for neat conversations when everyone is down with the same authors (and having more room for more books is a pretty good incentive - LOL). :-)
Update is done. It's Q&A time:
Question: What inspired you to write Diary of a book pimping Google Whore?
Answer: Um... My kids inheriting my electronic diary from hell (LOL) and all those intellectual property copyrights they're going to have to eventually make decisions for when I am gone (sigh). Original content is King and my boys are the biggest fans of my work-catalog, multiple blogs, blogging buddies and social media accounts/excursions. The wee people expect to see themselves (and virtual friends et al) on-line. Noah YouTubes and Googles for it daily.
Noah and Stephen also expect me to tell them the truth. I don't candy coat or discount anything with them because they are very literal little minions. The fact that I am a book pimping Google Whore needs to come from me on my terms (LOL). Besides... sometimes, you just have to call a spade a spade and let people know exactly how you really feel about the things you care about (and what you do). Everything is not for sale... including facetious Internet opinions on something as simple as really liking something as small as a book.
Question: Who was it that got you so hooked on Starbucks?
Answer: My girlfriend Susana Isakharova. She does not blog. She does not do book club. She barely logs into Facebook. However, she does read my blog. She does gets sneak peaks at a lot of my creative projects. Sana lets me play my keyboards in her house, reads my drafts in progress, models for me, feeds me awesome treats at great places to eat, lets me use her home office/camp out on her couch and my kids LOVE HER TO DEATH.
So do I (LOL). She's amazing with kids a very smart, intelligent friend (and frequently amazes me - LOL). We talk about everything under the sun and she also lets me borrow her books and movies. Sometimes, while she writes in Starbucks I sit with my headphones on blogging, Skyping or working on scoring new music. She is the type of close friend that I can sit in friendly silence with, not obligated to make small talk.
FYI: Sana was the friend who convinced me I should be an author. I owe her a lot for that (evil grin). I also owe her two custom paintings and a sketch. I really need to finish her portrait (sigh). She's been "waiting for it forever" (LOL). Sorry Sana - it's coming - I promise. Seriously...
Did I mention I'm an anal retentive artist? I am you know (LOL). I wont let my art go out into the world unless I really like it. There's irony in that... ;-)
Quote: "Sometimes, when it comes to coffee, I actually don't know what I'm doing order-wise, especially when my friends are not with me in Starbucks but don't tell them I said so (they already have big, social media bobble-heads - evil grin)."
Question: Who's the biggest social media bobble-head in your life?
Answer: My husband Michael Starr, of course... although the wee people do give him a run for the money sometimes. Especially Stephen, the Minion Blur. Noah, the Net Geek is pretty quiet but Step is a social media Skype monster and cell phone speed dial chatter box. He calls people at 2am (ask my SC mother and Nydia, our across the hall NYC neighbors about my 5 year old - LOL). Little Dude thinks if he's up the world must be functioning RIGHT NOW. ;-)

Last answer wasn't what you were expecting, eh? I'm not sorry. I'm thrilled my best girls are still alive. Knowing that is my fave moment ever.
