I am an Android idiot...

I am an Android idiot...

I really-really-really am. I don't know how to use my new upgraded phone and have been blipping music to Twitter and Facebook while trying to figure it out. Why the hell doesn't menu say menu? It took me all day to figure out I had to slide the little green icon to the right to answer my phone (LOL).

Psssst... That's only because my Facebook peep told me (LMAO). ;-)

Back to work. Gotta book chapter to finish and am going to have dinner at the neighbors' later. Still writing like a lunatic... Will be painting like a nut job after that. :-)

LOL  I'll be in this boat on Monday when I get mine. :-)

Kat, it's a whole new wicked little sliding world full of yummy apps, mysterious icons and little finger taps (LOL). Woe is me. What have I done? I have approximately 600 numbers to input into that puppy. I don't know how to do a phone to phone transfer. I know NOTHING about Androids. How whacked is that? (LOL) ;-)

I just switched my Blackberry for a Droid and I am one old fool right now trying to learn how to use it...I did the same thing...phone rang and I kept ed hitting the green receiver but it just looked at me....slide it over before you hit the green receiver....LOL...I thought it was locked

Posted by Dennis Duvernay Broker/Owner (Hillview Realty) over 9 years ago

Dennis, so did I (LOL).

My phone needs to be unlocked every 30 seconds. I am wandering around experimenting with all kinds of settings (while periodically cursing under my breath - LOL). I kept trying to read and follow the instructions but the backlight on my LG kept going out every 10 seconds. Talk about living hell on a futon (LOL). I was actually considering writing an in depth play by play regarding the level of my stupidity but it keeps getting better and better so I figured I'd chat about it in the comments section instead. This is really going to take a while. My new Android is turning into a big learning curve for me. ;-)

You can change that from 30 seconds ..I put mine at 2 minutes but sorry I absolutely don't know how I did it. I took mine to Verizon to do the back-up assistant for all my contacts and she explained how to do everything....by the time I got to my car I didn't know how to answer the phone never mind all the other stuff she went over....some day I am going to grow up to be a Geek.Let me add instead of a dork.lol

Karen, all of my Mac friends are horrified that I did this. They are screaming at me in Twitter (LOL).

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) over 9 years ago

Dennis, my neighbor's son found that part and switched it for me (LOL). I'm stressing out because I have back upon my phone but can't get it to download all my contacts. I may have to go to the Sprint store if they keep putting me on hold bouncing me all over the place. My other phone pulled all my Facebook peeps into contacts with an app. I'm trying to find it for the Droid so I have an idea who is calling me. My sister in law called and I had no idea it was her. I'm in lost-contact hell right now... (sigh)

I absolutely do not believe, that you of all people could not figure it out. That does not bode well for the rest of us :)

Barb, I have a list if things that I can't figure out and by Monday I plan to be able to take that phone apart and put it back together again (LOL). New technology can throw you for a loop if you have no experience with it. Some things are intuitive, some are not. I always pushed a button to answer my cell phone. I have never had to swipe an icon to the side to do so (LOL).

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) over 9 years ago

C- I have the Droid X.  I like it but I'm not crazy about having to swipe to answer a call or to try to take a quick pic. But... the 8 megapixel camera is pdg (pretty darn good!)  My FB peeps are in my contacts along with their pics... I can't remember how I did it but it can be done.  Are you on Verizon?  I have back up buddy that backs up my contact list all the time.  See if you have that.

I really missed my speed dial buttons...It took me FOREVER to find the favorites list to replace it.  Ugg.  But I love my android now :~)

Kathy, I'm making progress. Downloaded the YouTube and Jango apps. Hooked up four e-mail accounts to it. Took out the everybody and their mother can track you option (LOL). Oh my word, this thing is a stalker tool. You can get apps for just about anything on this platform. I'm still on-line shopping the apps menu (LOL).

Hmm... Just started the download for the Kindle mobile app. I have a 2 GB scan card in the phone so this may get very interesting. I can load my Bible and 50 Classic Science Fiction on it. I also brought Kim Harrison, Ayn Rand and Penelope Trunk.

Terri, life without speed dial sucks for me which is why I am not going to upgrade the black cell phone. Stephen the Minion Blur loves his speed dialing and enjoys texting gibberish to everyone in my phone book (LOL). I like my full qwerty too so the old LG is going to stay until it dies a good old fashion tech death. ;-)

Okay... this is cool. I got a couple of free books for registering the mobile Kindle app with my Amazon profile. Nice... I am not going to read the Jane Austen because we did Pride and Prejudice half to death in high school (LOL) but I will read the Aesop's Fables. I haven't done that since I was a kid... :-)

Carolyn, new technology is so much fun! I can't wait to see what you do with your new Droid!

Posted by Maria Morton, Kansas City Real Estate 816-560-3758 (Platinum Realty) over 9 years ago

Maria, it's crazy. I'm am swimming in applications to choose from. The Kindle app is my fave. Tomorrow I'm going to load some music and make Stephen Dance my ringtone for the Minion Blur (LOL). I may have to license more than one of my songs for ringtones so my relatives and friends can stop bugging me. I am going to let Noah pick them out tomorrow. ;-)

Going jogging. I'm off to have an Android adventure (LOL). I want to test the camera and video out. I will try to upload some music to it today. ;-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) over 9 years ago

Yep, I have the android phone also and there should be a class on this thing! I've done pretty well on figuring things out, but some of the applications are complicated (for me anyway). Best of luck in conquering the machine!!

Carla, I'm trying to turn this thing into my jogging buddy (LOL). The manual is 154 pages, I and am a fiend in the app store. I have just discovered I can take my kids jogging with me in Skype so stay turned for Life With Wee People Adventures in Android (LOL). I called the little buggers three times already. The video on this thing isn't half bad. :-)

I also discovered downloading my Skype contacts syncs with their Facebook profiles. VERY COOL! :-)
