I have been up all night composing music and studying a business proposal

I have been up all night composing music and studying a business proposal that was submitted by a social media peep who is a third party introduction through Facebook. I now follow the artist in Twitter. He's been in the industry for ten years and opened for people like Jay Z so I am trying to be very careful about my response concerning doing a possible joint venture.

I would like to participate but I don't know if I can because I am sufficiently obligated. I have to finish a new album, I am scouting locations for the film shoot, I am producing other recording artists and I have two gallery shows that require I finish a bunch of really cool portraits... I am also helping Alicia with her book while my editor is tapping her lovely fingernails on a table top across the country patiently waiting for those chapters of my book that I promised her (LOL).

Thus, my lack of sleep was a necessity because the artist deserves an answer and there are people and businesses waiting for a response...

I have a really wonderful creative circle that has declined to do this project for reasons that I will keep private. Because I trust their judgment, I must also respectfully decline, although I actually really really want to do it. I can't remember the last time I felt so conflicted... However, the first rule of putting a team of trusted advisers together is to actually trust them.

I entered the music industry in 2009 on a whim and embraced the creative process without really understanding the ramifications of creating a record label to park my personal musical catalog in. Intellectual property is the gift that keeps on giving so one should never squander their copyrights or delay managing the copyrights of others entrusted to them. It was a huge compliment to ask me to help manage and back a joint venture across recording labels, so I will treasure the experience of making the acquaintance of this artist. Yesterday's business meeting went well, although the vote to conserve the resources of my talented team to the original agendas at hand means I must now write up my notes and forward the reasons for the decision today.

I'm feeling kinda sad about that...

You keep following your heart because your passion shows through.  I have to admit I was amazed to see your post because I had just posted to Club Chaos and am trying to get back into blogging and the Club used to be a hang out for me.  What is so Ironic is that it was a post about my daughter singing.  But I always look for no comments and that is why I clicked and it ended up being a post about music.

You go girl and go with your gut - you know what is best for you!

PS so i just went to check out your YT vids and your music is awesome but what I found even more Ironic is that my daughter draws to!

Oh my goodness! How cool is that? VERY! Tami, post me some links so I can see her work and/or embed a picture. I am in a meeting about destroying 51 websites and rebuilding them from scratch. We're using the La Femme Art crew to do this so TannStarr.com is coming down in an hour and we have to do a landing page for LaFemmeArt.com (and a couple of other digital properties). I haven't slept in two days, it's a lot of work but we have to do it for the film, band, photographers and other artists. I keep thinking I really need a nap (LOL).

C Tann, Sometimes saying NO is not easy but may be just the right timing for what is going on in your life. There are many times when you do NOT need to listen to others and there are times that you need to listen and trust those special colleagues that you have put together just for this reason.

You will do what is right for you! Trust your gut!

Thank you, Margaret. We were texting together yesterday and he was very gracious. If I can figure out another way to help him I will. I am just unable to do so at this time...

My goodness--full plate--they say give a project to busy people because they get things done! Did you write this to allow an outlet for all that's going on?  Writing does that for me, have been a journaler since childhood.  Even thought I'd write a book in the 8th grade--lofty idea--never got off the ground.

So be it.

P.S. Love runaway train...a far cry from the "Aura" music I have in the background on satellite radio.

LOL @ Gayle. I did that with my four year old. He wanted to crash trains and hot wheel cars and decided we needed a theme song to go with our playtime. Stephen the Blur Minion is mad fun that way (LOL).

I do engage in blog post therapy a lot. It helps me think and clear the air. It also helps me remind people what I actually did say (and think) as opposed to what people like to para-phase when they start explaining they thought I meant or said something else. Blogging is pretty cool in that regard. It's life's little moments with a third party time stamp (LOL). ;-)
