Winter Run

Carolyn Tann Starr 2011 Had a blast running in the snow this morning. Went jogging in Flushing Meadows for approximately an hour to train for my 10K run with Melodious (in Texas this June).

Started humming a tune and already created a new song for my next album. I have to go into the studio and record it after dinner tonight. Looking forward to making some serious noise with my Korg after we chill in lower Manhattan. It's a beautiful day to play outside (if you like snow as much as I do - LOL). I may be going to a ski spot with some friends before I head down to Florida. I wish the kids were here because they'd really enjoy a sled fest. :-)

I took 100 photographs while running figure eights around the Unisphere, Queens Theatre and Tennis Stadium. I'll YouTube it from Starbucks in the morning because I have another photo-shoot at the South Street Sea Port this afternoon so I need to pack my gear and get going. Don't want to squander my day. ;-)

Having lunch with Michelle, plus I have to see Sana before Cindy officially takes me over for the rest of the evening. We have a lot of catching up to do and foodie spots to explore between assignments and gossip, gossip, gossip (LOL).

Will keep you guys posted on my playdates... ;-)

How does this work.  I am doing a winter run in Melbourne Fla because I hate to run in the cold.

Shelton, you have to take close, balanced steps to jog in the snow. I like to think of it as an exercise in lowering my center of gravity while bouncing my center line across an imaginary vector that keeps my head suspended like a puppet instead of leaning. If I lean too much I always eventually bust my a$$ (LOL). ;-)

I dress in light layers and use hiking boots so I enjoy the freedom of movement and extra grip. Stay in the fresh powder because the impacted snow creates more opportunities to trip on an icy patch. I find I get better lift on the powder, but that's just me. :-)

Sorry I'm gonna miss you in Melbourne, Florida. I've been exploring the beaches there and in Orlando. We also poke around a lot in Palm Bay. :-)

You are a brave woman jogging in the snow. I, too, love the cold and the beauty of the season. We had a glorious snowfall overnight...just enough to blanket the trees and cars but not bad on the streets.

I am amazed at your high energy level.  Enjoy the beauty of the winter season up north, it is a little cloudy down here today!

I am so not a fan of jogging in the snow -- it sounds like you thoroughly enjoyed it, which was fun to read.  Just curious - was the melody in your mind snow related??

Margaret, it's the little kid in me (LOL). I have always loved snow. It fascinates me to know that no two flakes are ever alike. Brilliant bit of nature, eh? God is amazing to have come up with that construct. ;-)

Christine, I'm bouncing off the walls having fun with the stroller brigade. Just wish the wee people were with me on this trip. I promised them lots of eye candy so I'll be updating my Localism blog while I'm here. I'm also working on a MD post you may find useful (regarding your e-mail). ;-)

Alexsandra, it is definitely snow inspired. I was practicing my Tai Chi when bits of ideas started coming to me. I'm working hard on it. I want to do something special for my kids while I'm here. We love park hopping in the snow. They've got Mikey running them around to explore FL parks and beaches, so they're missing the ice antics of their friends in New York. They have been averaging 70 degrees down there and have no problem inventing things to do outside (LOL). It feels like 10 below here, so I'm packing some gear in Stephen's back pack and heading out to capture the cityscape, then take my jog. :-)

You're coming to Texas?  Really?  This wouldn't be a tease, would it?

Posted by Steve Shatsky almost 10 years ago

Cynthia, Melodious will dust me if I don't practice and get up to speed pronto (LOL).

Steve, we will be hanging out for an entire week. Not a tease. I'm waaaaay overdue and have business to attend to. Melody will be the boss of me so call the Botting chick for our blog schedule. We will be inseparable while I am there. She's babysitting me for hubby (LOL). ;-)
