Would you use a Facebook e-mail account? Seriously... They are doing this soon...

I am a Yahoo/Hotmail/GMail baby so this concerns me because as an artist branding my name I would have to opt in to protect it.

My first question is how are they going to deal with squatters? My second question is how many @Facebook.com accounts can we have? One for each business page? One per account holder? Unlimited numbers like GMail?

Did you know they invited reporters to an event next week to unveil their new _______ ?

Yup. That's how I got the tip. Several writers are e-mailing their readers asking for comments. I figured I'd sit on the digital fence while collecting a few comments of my own because this turn of events is going to be very interesting.

I find myself wondering if we get to opt in or if they're going to bestow it upon half a billion users automatically.

Looking forward to Monday (LOL).

Pssssssst... Facebook... We love GMAil because we can transfer really large files. Just sayin' if you're gonna do this be generous with the file transfer sizes. Seriously... ;-)

I have a hard time taking a free mail account seriously!

I do have a juno it's almost old enough to vote, only my mother and a few old friends use it,

Business people should have their own domain mail account! Mine is: wja@reii.org

Facebook alreadt knows to much do you really want to give them access to your mail?

No, would not. I am with you on the yahoo account BUT in saying that, I agree with Bill, a lot of people (potential clients, other Realtors, etc...) see from a "yahoo" account and wonder when the sender is going to "put on their big boy/girl pants" so even though everything dumps into my yahoo account, nothing is sent from it, I have it set up so that all emails are from my name@mywebsite. That's my thought on the subject....

C- I really do love your new pic. Anyway, I have Yahoo for my personal email; have a couple of Gmail accounts but my work looks like work- kathy@MrsHomeStaging.com. All nice and grown up! I'm skeptical of Facebook having email accounts. I'm not sure of the purpose.

Would I use it... no, not really.  Would I try to grab my name ASAP? absolutely.

I would definitely get the email but I think this is going a little too far.  It feels like facebook is moving too fast right now and that it's risky.  I just had a discussion with a trainer at Constant Contact, CC's take, if you can't afford ten bucks for a domain name then you aren't taken seriously.  I still like my gmail thought!

C - We will need to wait to Monday to see exactly what Facebook is offering us.

Posted by FN LN almost 10 years ago

I have been reading several articles pro and con on the subject. I am looking forward to the roll out. It should be very interesting to see what they come up with. I am wondering how it might affect our direct messages since we already have internal e-mail on the FB platform. I am worried about people being able to possibly forward a direct message if they do link the two. I am hoping they don't. DMs were meant to stay between the original people having the conversation. A hacked account could spell major headaches if DMs become downloadable.

Good Monday afternoon to you Ms. C...  I was reading about the new email possibilities over the week-end.  I'm w/Lane, will grab my name but that's about all.  After all how many accounts does one person really need...  @msn.com @yahoo.com @nc.rr.com @gmail.com @mindspring.com - geez...  now @facebook.com?!?!?!

P.S - I don't saw where you and I joined AR on the same day back in April 2008!!!  Sweet!

I'm going to grab my names and hang on to them, but I'm not quite sure how or why I am going to use it.

I am kinda clueless as to what I may or may not be doing with them either. I guess it depends upon the features they integrate into the program. :-)

With my business and gmail accounts I'm pretty well covered. Like others, I might get my name and business page name, but the account would likely remain dormant.

John, I think a lot of business people are going to do this to protect their trade and service mark investments.

I have to do some research on this so that I can figure out all the ins and outs of facebook email.  I wouldn't mind having the options for email on my facebook pages.

Dr Stacey, it would be useful for the business pages. :-)
