Working With The Lights Off...

Working With The Lights Off...

Ever hear that expression "The lights are off and nobody's home?" That would be me today (LOL). Besides the fact that I opted to work with the office lights off, I don't know how I did it but I managed to lock myself out of my Cisco Systems IP Phone (7940 Series). The computer keep telling me to call customer service... On a holiday weekend... Yet has the nerve not to give me the bloody number to call... WTF?

This is what happens when you have too many accounts that require unique passwords which demand to be updated every 90 days.

How the heck does one constantly create new passwords every 90 friggin' days? Don't get me wrong, I do remember them all, I just don't always remember which order I created them in for what accounts. Seriously... At least I didn't lock myself out of the WiFi (ROTFL). If I did that I couldn't blog live from the office (LOL).

Just popped in to get you guys to say hello to our newest Club Chaos bay-bay. Now that the group e-mail is out I have to get back to my clients. Consider this my example of how to blog in less than ten minutes when the people you are with have to take a potty break (LOL). ;-)

Hi Laura! :-D Wanna hint regarding my next post? RainCamp Bay-Bays (Aren't they cute?)

RainCamp Bay-Bays

How cool was NYC's RainCamp? VERY!!! Going to DC? I am. Meetcha' there! ;-)

Hey C, I never turn the lights on at the office on my side of the street, and get yelled at all the time. And passwords? I hate 'em, just hate 'em. My brain can't hold that many numbers, I think writing them down defeats my purpose as I will probably forget where I put them. There just has to be a better way. If you find it, can you let me know?

I am still crying about missing NYC Raincamp. I carry tissues with me all the time now, LOL. I am hoping to make it to DC, and maybe even Boston! See you there!

Posted by Andrea Swiedler, Realtor, Southern Litchfield County CT (Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properties) almost 9 years ago

Boston? Why didn't I realize there was something going on in Boston? I love Fringe. I have soooo gotta figure out my schedule to get some Boston eye candy. Andrea, I hope to see you in both spots. :-)

Thanks for the shout out to Laura Carolyn. I went over to her post and said hi. Wow resetting all those passwords is downright crazy!
Posted by Gary Woltal, Assoc. Broker Realtor SFR Dallas Ft. Worth (Keller Williams Realty) almost 9 years ago

Gary, it would be a lot easier if I had created them all around the same time. The MLS resets the first week of the month, my phone the middle of the month, a host of other accounts on other days. It's crazy. Each database remembers what you already used so you can't recycle them because they actually tell you you already used that one. They force your faves to expire and then you have to come up with crazy stuff (LOL). Thanks for saying hi to Laura. :-)

C - How you beat me in many ways (outside of AR points) is that you can remember all the passwords. This is a challenge for me when I use the "remember password" features on various browsers, then shoot myself in the foot when I clear out my cookies to see the real Google/Bing standings. Grrr ....part-timers is killing me. So the fact you can recite all your passwords has me flummoxed. Cheers to the mind that works in the dark

Just off the phone with Laura Cerrano, what a neat gal. You sure picked some good looking Bay Bays! Ask Susan Mangigian about our last conversation. You will love it!

Hey C! I had a BLAST meeting you! Thank you so much for the shout out :)  I really appreciate it. I cant wait to see what you have to say next!

Margaret Rome, it was really great speaking to you tonight...so unexpected and wonderful!  The community of ActiveRain is more then I ever thought...and it's only been 7 days after RainCamp..AMAZING! Thank you both so much for your support :)

Carolyn, I know exactly what you mean about passwords - what order and which account!

I got your group message earlier and went to welcome her immediately! Have a great weekend.

C, I'm not even NEAR to all the sites you are on and can't rememer my passwords :(  And for some reason I keep joining more :(

Thank you SO much for the very sweet acknowledgement of Laura.  She had no idea why I loved you all so much--she 'gets it' now!!

Posted by Laura Cerrano, Certified Feng Shui Expert, Speaker & Researcher (Feng Shui Manhattan Long Island) almost 9 years ago

I tried to put my lock box code into the ATM machine.  I try to make all my internet website things the same email address just because I can't remember too many things.  It's so nice that Tom Re and Laura got to meet you guys.  What a good bunch!  I'm sorry I missed it.

Heaven help me if someone gets hold of my computer where I store all my passwords.  And also 90% of them are exactly the same.  I am a prime target for identity theft.    Looks like Susan has the same problem.

Posted by Jane Peters, Los Angeles real estate concierge services (Home Jane Realty) almost 9 years ago

OK. Here's how I handle my passwords. I have a WordPerfect document with multiple categories for each place where I need a password. And WordPerfect allows you to password-protect THAT document! So I really only have to remember one password... the one to the FIVE PAGE list that contains all my passwords! =D

Posted by Lisa Hill, Daytona Beach Real Estate (Florida Property Experts) almost 9 years ago

ROTFL @ Lisa. Brilliant!!! I shall make one today. Five pages eh? (LOL)

Jane, one of my neighbors in the next building was combing through garbage and swiping peoples information. Several posted warnings on the wall next to the front bells warning us all to get shredders because the trash thief got their utility bills and managed to reverse engineer their way into their identities. I checked my TRW and discovered I had a new address and when I tried to get it fixed the credit bureaus swore they did an investigation and that it was indeed my address. I flipped out when I get the letters. I'm still freaking out because I can't get that crap taken off. They will not believe "the real me" and I hate the "fake me" for getting over on them. Everything is cash and carry now. I even had to close a bank account because someone in China got my information and went shopping there. It is a constant battle and cost me money so I have issues regarding passwords and may get a wee bit cranky about them. Identity theft sucks.

LOL @ Susan. I have a debit card I can't remember the pin # to. To reset it you have to put your old pin # in to update to a new one (LMAO). I could go on and on about this... :-)

Carole, she's a sweetie pie. I am so happy to have met her and I am really looking forward to spending some time with you guys.  am trying to manage all of my social media accounts and told the Hubby we need to make a master list of accounts and passwords because it's all full of intellectual property the wee people will be inheriting. :-)

Connie, we have to pick a spot and go meet up for some fun. You down for a road trip? Call me. Thanks for popping over and saying hello to Laura. :-)

Susan, my brain was tripping over itself yesterday (LOL). :-D

Laura, I am looking forward to lurking on your blog (LOL).

Margaret, I shall call Mangiggly the I-Talian today (LOL). ;-)

Claude, insanity is being so anal retentive that you can recall the most trivial of things yet not be able to connect the dots when it really, really matters (LMAO). This is going to force me to go back into the office. I rarely ever go into the office for anything. I live for the outside office experience. Freedom makes me sing (LOL). Running the streets keeps me humming. ;-)

I have to write my passwords down. There are just too many and when they change it just makes it impossible.

Posted by Maria Morton, Kansas City Real Estate 816-560-3758 (Chartwell Kansas City Realty) almost 9 years ago

Margaret, just got a google alert and didn't see that you referenced our very funny conversation!   It was great talking to you!!  No where else can you meet someone virtually and have a conversation like that without ever having laid eyes on the person!  lol!

Hi Carolyn. Just stopping by to say hi. Glad I don't need a password to visit you here. ;-)

There is always time to throw together a quick post to say hello and tell us what is going on. 10 minutes is pretty fast though.

Posted by John Cannata, Texas Home Mortgage - Purchase or Refinance (214-728-0449 http://TexasLoanGuy.com) almost 9 years ago

Maria, I am cracking up because I have to remember all my accounts to write all my passwords down. All my websites have master codes too (LOL). :-)

Susan, I know what you mean (LMAO)

LOL @ Susie. That is a good thing. :-)

John, there are days that I type slow and then there are days I type as fast as the speed of thought (LOL). I used to be a secretary and habitually typed what people dictated while they were talking to me. My girlfriend could do shorthand and I couldn't so I had to learn to type my a$$ off when she wasn't around (LOL).

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) almost 9 years ago

Well, being able to type fast has its advantages. So, I guess its better that you learned to type quickly instead of learning shorthand.

C,

Great picture.. sounds like tons of fun at the event! Mac has a program I heard that is supposed to be fantastic for password protection... Posting in 10 minutes.. that is on my list of things to learn!

Hannah, I wish I could finish my RainCamp YouTube. My kids are driving me crazy (LOL). They wont stay in the bed...

LOL @ John. Sometimes a deficiency in one area leads to a proficiency in another (LOL). ;-)

Carra, I was out all day today and everywhere I went the WiFi was hinky. I was so pissed I didn't bring the Air Card. I have pictures but I couldn't blog live like I wanted to. Bummer... Now that I am home it is just not the same. I'm not even on my computer. I took over Mike's (LOL). I plan on watching Internet TV to catch up on what I missed while I write an offer on a two family. I hope it gets accepted. That would be nice. :-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) almost 9 years ago

I've never really seen shorthand, so Im not sure what it would look like. I assume we could figure it out if you blogged in ShortHand... just add a lot of picture. :-)

Posted by John Cannata, Texas Home Mortgage - Purchase or Refinance (214-728-0449 http://TexasLoanGuy.com) almost 9 years ago

John, shorthand is a trip. I don't even know how to describe it because I can't do it. I love the idea of blogging in pictorial shorthand. That would rock if I could figure out how to do it (LOL). I may try your idea. Will let you know if I pull it off and shall e-mail you (LMAO). :-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) almost 9 years ago

If I cant figure it out, I'll use the standard response "Good Post, Thanks For Sharing". HA!
