Life With Wee People: Insanity Is... The Quest For Santa At The Queens Center Mall

Insanity Is... Riding the escalator 15 times to hear your 3 year old squeal with glee because the steps are moving...

Carolyn Tann-Starr 2009

Insanity Is... Repeatedly chasing a squealing 3 year old around the base of a two story Christmas Tree because Mr. PDD-NOS thinks the Glowing Menorah next to it is an Olympic Torch...

Carolyn Tann-Starr 2009

Insanity Is... Paying $7.00 to rent a double decker kiddie cart to temporarily strap your 3 year old down (because he wont stop diving into the holiday decorations and running marathons, startling the shoppers) only to discover the 7 year old is hell bent on cramming himself into the front like a human hood ornament. When Mr. Autistic and Mr. PDD-NOS see the watch counter, "Ooooooo shiny," becomes the mantra of the moment and they hastily abandon the cart to drool at very expensive jewlery... The cart gets stolen by another shopper with kids while I am chasing mine... (the nerve of that Mommy - LOL)

Insanity Is... Having so much fun watching them have fun that you freeze your a$$ off on the mall roof counting airplanes with your kids because anything that makes your speech delayed children talk is priceless. :-)

Insanity Is... Bribing your kids with Food Court food so you can say "blogging live from the Queens Center Mall..." (LMAO). BTW, they have those really cool and comfy message chairs you can try out here... Makes for a very nice outside office if you happen to have an Air Card. Just sayin... (LOL)

Pssssst... From my insane family to yours: Happy Chanukah (Hanukkah) and Merry Christmas! ;-)

You may call it insanity but I bet you enjoyed every minute of it and wouldn't trade it for anything.

C- First. . those are two of the cutest wee-ones I've seen in a while.

Two- I'm exhausted just from reading about your adventure.  You must be pooped!

Third- thank you for inviting me into the World of C and her wee-ones.  Can't wait to see what's in store of 2010.

Have a Happy Merry Everyday.

I just don't know how you balance it all, CTS, and still manage to enjoy those insane moments! Your priorities are straight.

I amd with Irene.  You always seem to be busy with tons of things but have quality time for your kids.

I LOVED that picture with Santa...they are priceless as the years go by.  And wondering how you lasted through all that, I'd be completely exhausted after a day like that!

You crack me up with all your little names for different people. Kids/Children = Wee people. LOL! Now how did you get them to look at jewelry? Were you prepping them for where to send dad? Good job!

Susan, they are a trip. We had mad fun. :-)

Don, I really do enjoy my quirky shorties (LOL). ;-)

Kathy, getting them out of the mall and into the car was quite a project (LOL). :-D

Irene, I discovered you never really balance kids, yu sort of go along for the ride and adjust everything else accordingly (LMAO). ;-)

Carole, this was Stephen's first Santa shot. He was soooo funny. Dude was more intereted in taking the tree apart than that nice man in the red suit (LOL).

Carra, I second that (LOL).

Lisa, if it is shiny my kids will go explore it (LMAO). They like shiny! ;-) The best part was Stephen discovered the make-up section. Dude thought he was in Paint Heaven (LMAO). It took me 20 minutes to get him out of there. :-)

I'm still smiling with you about the wee ones - how fun was that trip!  I miss those days they were really fun - even if exhausting. Would have been fun to document them all in a blog like you did - very fun!

Hey my not so favorite time was when my 5 year old niece decided Santa was very scary and wouldn't go near the guy - she laid down and starting screming and crying for her Mommie - who wasn't on that fun outing. Took us quite awhile to calm that wee one down.  Hey - I'm smiling thinking about it so thanks for sharing cause it reminded me of lots of fun times!

C- Ann grew up walking distance from that mall in Rego Park. Thanks for sharing such a happy event somewhere we know so well. Queens and Woodhaven Boulevard, the Mesopotamia of Western Civilization...kinda.

LOL @ Anna Banana. You have rolling across the floor screaming your head off memories too, eh? I think it's universal among children (LMAO).

J Phillip, I am about to head off towards the Mesopotamia of Queens Civilization, then Barnes and Nobles  (ROTFLMAO). We have soooo gotta hook up one of these days. I bet our kids would get along famously. :-)

Carolyn, What great memories you are creating with your kids.  And freezing while watching planes is priceless.  The wee ones are too cute.

Why are those two leaning away from Santa in that first picture like he hasn't taken a shower in a week?

Posted by Todd Clark, Principle Broker Oregon (eXp Realty LLC) almost 11 years ago

LOL @ Todd. Santa smelled very nice. Aramis maybe? (LOL) ;-)
