C Tann-Starr's Outside Blog

Wordy C Threw A Dart (LMAO)

I got two recommendations by two stellar brokers so I threw a dart (LOL). You guys thought I was kidding, didn't you? Well, I'm not. We hired Brian Hoagland's firm to do our wind and home inspection reports and Ladybugs to do the termite inspection report.

I am amazed no Florida Rainers felt up to the task of doing this job. I thought you guys wanted to use your blogs to social network, business network, build your business, yadda yadda yadda blah blah blah... Hmm... at least two people saw fit to send me a couple of candidates. Somehow, I thought I'd have more since there are approximately 165,942 members in this network (which is really, really growing).

Oh well... at least all my inspection reports are coming tomorrow (LOL). Mikey, the boys and I thank these two companies who don't blog here for taking my business. I shall thank the Rainers working with me in person upon closing escrow. We are going to have fun blogging about our little Mikey bet (LMAO). ;-)

Maybe the next time I tell the blogosphere I have a job offer for you more bloggers will take me seriously and respond on behalf of other vendors if they themselves can't do it... That was my expectation because that's the rhetoric the I am an expert crew likes to spew and that's what I do. I pass people and their talents back and forth like trading cards. I don't get paid to do that, I do that because its the right thing to do. People call me all the time to help them find someone to do what they want done because social media relationships mean something to me and I don't squander them. You never know when these same people may need your friendship and business services later on.

Consider this a lesson in what not to do when you claim you use your blog for business. Trolling for business sometimes means helping another firm out with no strings attached. People remember the kindness of others...

I, for one, will certainly be looking forward to doing more business with these new contacts I have made in addition to the Rainers I already have relations with. Did I mention I'm trying to win a social media bet regarding hubby's social media closing? It's a short sale. I need to close before Christmas (LOL). I will close before Christmes because I have some of the best Rainers for the job doing their best for my family. This is Mikey's house. Wait until you get a load of my pending house (LOL). The fam needs a gas station too. :-)

Wanna play? I have approximately 255 people who need to relocate over the next two years on a schedule. Am I about to start a blog war? Abso-freaking-lutely (LOL). ;-)

Whther it be Rainers or non-Rainers... reliable contacts and vendors are priceless! Maybe some are too busy blogging and gaining points to work:)

C- next time I'll step/jump forward.  I've not met any inspectors here but next time I will contact the Realtors I know and ask them for recommendations!! Don't give up on us in the sunshine state yet.

C, I saw that blog and thought you would be getting many responses....I'm shocked that you didn't from AR.  I'm glad you got some wonderful people to help you though I can't understand why no one from here contacted you.

Cheryl, reliable people are indeed priceless. :-)

Kathy, since I'm working on getting a license up and  down the East coast I plan on bugging a lot of people for a lot of things (LOL). I shall not give up on FL. Big Daddy Minion wants to be a beach bum so I have to make Mikey happy (LOL). I myself am a snow bunny, so NY makes me happy. I have my eye on upstate. The kids are crazy about SC and I've discovered I have a thing for VA, NC and GA (LOL). Can't wait to try MD, KY and TX out. Been poking around in MD. If I am lucky and God blesses me maybe I'll find a nice piece of land to park some trees on. We like planting fruit trees. My kids love my Dad's properties. Talk about tractor heaven and lots of natural munchies to choose from (LOL). ;-)

Carole, it amazed me... One Rainer gave me two names from a non-Rainer. Talk about irony (LOL). Good people are hard to find but I'm glad I blogged it because God blessed me with good people. I am looking forward to working with them. :-)

Need anything, anytime, just knock.  I will dust off my vendor list, all three of them, and most certainly refer them.

AWESOME! Jane, I've been trying to get the hubby to consider a CA vacation. Dude is entrenched on the East coast (LOL). Most of both our families are over here so I get the love affair with our coastline. :-)

I'd like to add my California invitation.....it's sunny and beautiful here today! Come West, young C, come West.

Karen, you are definitely a must see. I also wanna see Elizabeth Weintraub's backyard up close and personal (LOL) :-)

Try not to be TOO offended - AR is primarily RE Agent-centric; Appraisers and Inspectors tend to gravitate towards social media that is specific for those industries.

I just happen to be more open-minded than most in my profession : D

Posted by Jesse Skolkin (Independent New York State Certified Real Estate Appraiser) almost 11 years ago

I have asked fellow rainers to help me a few different things and I have never gotten a response from any of them. Makes you wonder why they are here in the first place doesn't it.

Posted by JL Boney, III, Columbia, SC Real Estate (Coldwell Banker) almost 11 years ago

LMAO @ Tom. Yup. :-)

And that is why you shall receive, my dear Jesse. :-)

JL, I have been wondering a lot of things about a lot of people here (LOL). I pick up the phone and randomly call Activepeeps from all over the world weekly. Don't think twice about it, just call and say hello. I don't blog about everything that I do but I do say enough to be relatively transparent. I am never afraid to ask for help and will work with anyone willing to work with me. I guess, in the end, it is what it is. I will find someone to do what I need done one way or the other, even if that means taping an e-mail to the wall or scanning pages from the phone book and tossing darts at 'em (LOL).

I will keep on blogging and keep on networking because I have discovered these things have a way of working themselves out in the end (LOL). ;-)

C. This is PAR for large online groups.

Out of THOUSANDS of members, only perhaps a fraction of a percentage (yes I mean like 100 out of 165k) are going to be paying attention.

Of that hundred, half are too busy

Of that fifty, half can't live up to their press and won't admit it

Of that 25 will be your value.

I remember posting to RealTalk about this a couple of years ago. I wanted a listing agent for my own property. No referral fee, full pop commission, just take care of me!

I went thru the ePRO roster and found profiles without working URLs and phones.

Left messages with no callback.

Finally I got a good couple down South and they've been my agents ever since. :)

WOW! Candyland, that is something else... Do you know that I blogged that I am not taking on any more new clients right now and that prompted four people to call and ask me to take them on (LOL). They thought there was an end of the month deadline to this or something (LMAO). Geez... Who knew people read what you write so they can ignore what you say when you write it? (Hahahahahaaaaaaa!)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) almost 11 years ago

JL (I'ma do a C here, ROFL) if you ever need ANYTHING you holler. My Crackberry is always with me. That number rings or texts  it.

C can attest I have a few friends around the USA... :)

C when I posted my rant fest on RT about it I got numerous responses too. I selected the FIRST. Like I said, they have been my agents since.

Awesome! I am so happy that I have Club chaos as a Rolodex (LOL). I bug them for everything I don't bug my hubby and brick and mortar family for. Candice, nothing like a good rant to start an interesting conversation.  ;-)
