Live From The New York State Capitol, Albany NY
This is the park directly across the street from the Capitol, Education and Legislative Buildings. There are some really neat monuments in there (and a grave) which I shall show you guys later (LOL).
While wandering about the facade of the educational building I noticed you get a really cool view of the Capitol (on your left) and the Legislative buildings (on the right). I enjoyed getting up close and personal regarding how people start with an idea, bring it to a lawmaker, then suffer through the journey the inner circle describes as the legislative process only to discover a good and bad idea have equal opportunity to be made into laws (LMAO).
Did I get an interesting education today? Yup. Shall be blogging about it very shortly. It really is a very cool and useful process. The problem lies in the fact that not enough of us are getting involved. We appear to be reactive rather than proactive. Lawmakers love proactive constituents... Hmm... I may have to make a new set of friends up here (LOL). BTW, AR makes an excellent think tank. Lots of great minds with good ideas to share. How could I not? (LOL)
I took 187 photographs during my visit so sorting through them all my take a while. Wanna see the inside of the Assembly/State Building? They have cool hearing rooms, art, lots of marble everywhere (except the ladies room - bummer - no cool bathroom shot - LOL).
Was driving 171.6 miles worth it? Abso-friggin-lutely. I am sooooo doing this again (LOL). On the hunt for food. Will get back to blogging live from Albany in a couple of hours. Still making friends, trading business cards and bragging about my bay-bays (LOL). ;-)

The Red tree is so beautiful. It's amazing. I can't believe there are still so many leaves on the trees in NY! Great eye candy.
Hey C, Great pics so far can't wait to see the rest. Have fun.
Tammy, I have more and am looking forward to sharing it with you guys. I have a 3PM so I have to run, find food, then learn something else new. Will post again around 6.30 or 7 PM. :-)
Thank you, Lisa. :-)
187 PHOTOS!! Great way to be there with you! " . . . to discover a good and bad idea have equal opportunity to be made into laws (LMAO)" . . . This is so eloquent C. Not too wordy, but what a brilliant manner of saying it all!
P.S. You and toilets . . . LOL ;-)
Love the pictures. You said you were looking for eye candy and it looks like you're not having a problem finding it!
"C" --- that red tree is simply awesome -- you take great photos -- am glad that you feel that your visit was worthwhile.
Mama Liz
Great photos Miss C. I was born and raised 50 miles north of Albany in Glens Falls, NY. Never noticed that I lived in such a beautiful part of the country. I escaped in the early 80s to U guessed it Florida. I hated winters in NY.
Miss C,
What a beautiful red tree! Great pictures. Sounds like you're learning a lot and taking a ton of wonderful pictures. Can't wait to hear/see more!
Gorgeous pics, there, C! I love fall photos.
Carla, when you see all that lovely marble you just start imagining this great ladies room... NOT (LOL). Reality was a bit shocking... Didn't quite fit the rest of the place. Maybe I should have used a different one, eh? ;-)
Connie, I got mad eye candy! The rain made everything look nice and clean (LOL). Shiny even. :-)
Liz, it was great. Looking forward to the next one. :-)
June, I am a Spring Fall baby, but I do admit to having a thing for snow (LOL). The first snow always captivates me... :-)
Carra, looking forward to sharing. Got quite an education and several visits in. :-)
Celina, I love the Fall. The colors are awesome. My kids get really big eyed and curious about the leaves (LOL). :-)
C- beautiful shots. I worked in Albany for several years so I know there is a lot of interest stuff to photograph. Look forward to more photos.
Morning Jennifer. It's absolutely lovely over there. Will try and have the next post up for lunch. The wee people are battling colds and Stephen is giving me a run for my money this morning. Wont stay out the frig (LOL). Dude took the entire bowl of jello and has it balanced on the end of the couch going to town on it. Looks like the boys are going to be home today...
I hope that TomTom was up and running. I almost always get lost in Albany. TTYS C
Paddy, I got lost. Believe me. I had to call the congressman's office for directions. It appears The State Capitol, Senate and Assembly are not points of interest for the software (LOL). Got to Albany just fine (only has two exits off I-87 LOL). I figured once there I'd go through the landmark list. What the hell was I thinking? (LMAO) The Legislative Office Building does not have a street address people, just in case you are wondering. The post office appears to be happy with that. If you just right NYS Assembly, Albany NY it (your letter) will actually get there.
You have to just love fall colors. Thanks for sharing the pics.
I love the trees! That is a perfect picture of fall colors in the midst of the town.
John, I am a Spring Fall baby. I love the colors. :-)
Ann, NY is remarkble right now. I am sometimes missing my turns because I am too busy enjoying the ride and staring at the trees (LOL).
Love this fall picture with the red tree. Can I borrow it for my newsletter this week? How did your trip turn out?
C,
Sounds like you had an awesome time in the Capitol. I would like to visit. It looks quite interesting.
Ann
Lizette, my love, you can have anything you want. Will be happy to send you the entire file. My trip was a real hoot. I am really looking forward to catching up with you in KY. Been working my schedule like a dog to make that happen. Will be going on to TX from there. Melodious and I have been plotting and planning like little kids (LOL). I'm gonna cook in her kitchen. Been waiting to learn how to do some TX Chili. I like spicy food. :-)
Ann, I enjoyed myself and am working on three Localism posts that are waaaaaay overdue. SC, MD and Albany NY. I have some truly lovely photographs. Will be on the hunt for more eye candy tomorrow so I have to get all my stuff done today. Very excited about going to REBarCamp in NC. :-)
