Mattie, Mama Liz, Celina Gleason and Kim Peasley-Parker meet some of the Tann Clan

I love going on ActiveRain Road Trips. I have been having a lovely time disrupting some stellar South Carolina Rainers from their regularly scheduled daily programs. Mattie, Mama Liz, Celina Gleason and Kim Peasley-Parker met some of the Tann Clan today. We had a wonderful time together and we're looking forward to our next visit (which will be very soon).

Kim Peasley-Parker has a beautiful daughter named Mattie who stole the show. Little Chicka was doing her baby bay-bay thang while we were having our social media summit over a fabulous lunch at Clark's Restaurant. Since my TomTom from hell couldn't find a valid satellite signal the entire time I have been running up and down I-95 (bummer), I had to enlist the help of my brother Cedric and his lovely girlfriend Shakela to be my South Carolina guides (which is very cool because he drives a truck and knows everything about these roads - LOL).

Mama Liz selected Clark's Restaurant for our ActiveRain get together and I have to say it is quite impressive. Located just off of I-95 at exit 98 on Highway 6 in Santee, South Carolina, it has a cozy atmosphere steeped in southern hospitality and a spanking fireplace. Beautiful artwork lines the walls and it is going to be the future meeting place of our next group get together.

We're planning a social media event and it may take a few meetings to work out the logistics. Shall we host a REBarCamp? Request an ActiveCamp? Host another Gigglefest? Hmm... I bet you wish you were a fly on the wall for that top secret conversation (LOL). We haven't finished our bloggers agenda (or named it yet) so I will be returning next month after I do my wild card discussion at REBarCamp in Durham, NC. We need to scope meeting and banquet halls and may have to high-jack a couple more Club Chaos members to attend the next social media committee meeting. I vote for Clark's because I am determined to test out more of their menu, however, I realize we have to do travel due diligence with the ladies because we have to be able to accommodate the bay-bays and presenters converging on Santee, South Carolina when we do create our event.

Yup. Santee will be home to what ever it is we finally do cook up. The vote was unanimous (LOL). ;-) Was it the calabash style sea food? The Angus steaks? The local catfish? Clark's famous baked chicken, wonderful pasta and slow roasted prime rib? Hmm... Maybe... It certainly put me in a good mood. Not being able to get lost once you get off I-95 is a huge plus (LOL). Actually, it was a lot of factors and I went to the tourist center to collect information on the area, which is why I am so gung-ho on the location.

BTW, did you know that Celina Gleason has an amazing sense of humor? Seriously subtle and southern  (LOL). Actually, everyone at the table does (LMAO). My southern gal pals have it going on (LMAO). It was mad fun from the first minute we all laid eyes on each other and the comfort level was amazing. I loved every minute of it. Transparent writers are very easy to connect with because you already know what you need to know to become great friends. The best part is getting to hug and kiss your buddies in real life and show them off to your family. I am very much looking forward to my family becoming friends with their families. Celina gave me a very cool gift and I shall save it for when I get home so I can share it with my boys. Noah is going to love getting his hands on it (LOL). :-)

It was lovely catching up and sharing info about our families and friends. Social media made this happy gathering possible. Don't waste your opportunities to enjoy some of the best moments of your life. Good friends and good food is always nice and making new friends who feel like old friends even better.

Thank you, Mama Liz for hosting our luncheon and thank you Celina and Kim for showing my non-blogging loved ones an exceptionally nice time. :-)

C - Your trip is very cool. You pop into SC and the AR gang shows up. Cheers to Liz for making things happen. I love following your travels. C

You are doing what I want to do except I want to do it in an Airstream... and I might hit Cowboy towns too! Enjoyed reading about your trip.

Carolyn, isn't wonderful to finally meet people face to face? I think it solidifies the friendship we already 'feel' we have here on Active Rain.

I met Liz Moras from Active Rain in August, when she came to drop off her daughter at the University of Toronto.  We were friends before and had talked many times over the phone, but there is nothing like meeting our friends face to face.

I am planning a trip to New York (not soon enough), to see my friend Carole Provenzale from Active Rain ... and I hope you will be around, so we can all get together. :)

That sounds like so much fun, Miss C.  Although, getting you in a room with ANYONE would be fun.  I SO have to look you up if I am ever back east.  I wanna be more than a fly on the wall.  I wanna be the fly in the ointment! :P

Thank you, Claude. I am enjoying my visit and hope the wee people will come down in November. :-)

LOL @ Susie. An Airstream... Hmm... I do believe you just birthed a dream (LOL). ;-)

Ahhh... to have Sylvie and Carole together in the same room. Lovely! I hope I am here when you do visit. :-)

LOL @ Heather. I bet we'd have mad fun together (LMAO). We shall have to try and meet half way maybe. :-D

Hey guurrrlll!  I had a blast yesterday.  Tell Cedric and Shakela that I really enjoyed getting to know them too.  I don't think they could get a word in edgewise with all our networking going on.  I didn't mention our plans in my post today, but I should have!  Can't wait to plan out whatever it is we decide to do.  We could use my church to meet for free and there are plenty of really nice rooms in Manning (*Hampton Inn-newest and nicest, Holiday Inn Express, Comfort Inn)  We can still go to Clarks to eat though.  That place is the bomb!  Have a safe trip back home.

Hey sweetie pie! I just came back from shooting cows in Manning. Had my nieces with me (LOL). Will call you before I leave because I have to pass through to get back on I-95. Celina, I would love to see your church. Sounds like a plan. :-)

Very cool that you guys got to meet up and hang out. I spoke with Liz yesterday, but I had some other obligations. Wish I could have come.

JL, I will be back in a couple of weeks to do REBarCamp in Durham, NC. I am hoping to cross over and see you if time permits. I'm still here but I have to leave very soon. Just took an awesome tour with Highway Patrol. Will post more pictures shortly. :-)

"C" --  Wow --- I had such a delightful time yesterday --- you were just as I expected -- brilliant, funny and just plain nice. Thanks for meeting with us.  I have enjoyed reading your other ventures in SC -- didn't comment on all of them, but have read them.  I am excited about working something out here in SC --- hoping that I can get to Durham.

Mama Liz, I hope you can as well. I had such a lovely time and my brother Cedric is looking forward to meeting and seeing more of my friends. I will be with Susan Mangigian on the 4th and shall start heading down after our PA visit. I don't want to be late to NC. I'm driving at a leisurely pace (and trying to talk a few more people into coming down). Looking forward to disrupting a few more Rainers from their regularly scheduled programming along the way (LOL). ;-)
