To Chrome Or Not To Chrome...

Hubby updated his computer. That's what I get for not sitting at my desk (LOL). I was working on what I thought was a draft (yes, I'm spoiled, I'm getting used to the auto-save feature in ActiveRain) except Chrome started showing error messages while I was writing. So I figured let me save my draft. Guess what? It took me to a search page of my blog so I can click a link instead of showing me my draft

What the heck was Google thinking? I do not need "fastwebsearch" while I am writing a blog post. I need my AR dashboard. I immediately downloaded Firefox so I could get back to enjoying auto-save without having to be redirected to a search page.

Has anyone else experienced this? I keep thinking Mikey must have left the browser in default and not customized anything. Why else would it take me to a search page multiple times?

I know what I want when I type, "http://"

C, In Chrome, if you type one word, or type multiple words with spaces in between in the address bar, Chrome assumes you're doing a search. Rich

I had the opposite experience last night. A friend, trying to search the MLS had multiple failures with IE so I talked him through installing Chrome and voila ...instant success.

I'll experiment with writing a post ... I think I did once but Google spell check didn't work with Chrome. What??? Go figure.

Richard I, it seems that this is something that I am not going to get used to. Thumbs down on that feature. That's why we have search boxes and search engines. I do not want to click through when I can just go to where I want to be. There are too many malicious websites out there to randomly re-route people to a search page. I wonder how this will affect pay per click advertising... I smell a virtual rat of full of unintended consequences...

Richard W, that is fascinating. My MLS was stupid enough to make it only work with IE6. If you update you can not access the database. If you use any other browser it wont work. That is counter productive and very restrictive. I like Opera, Safari and Firefox. IE is becoming an error zone for me. Chrome looked promising but now I'm running from it like a cartoon screaming into the night. They have got to do away with that feature or make users a box to un-check so we're not annoyed. What were they thinking? Seriously...

I'm still on Firefox as I'm usually happy with it. Ha ha. I'm at the 'must get a new computer' stage with my VAIO so can't blame the FF crashes on FF. Will my new computer be able to tell me how to find my horse website Fan page on Facebook??  I doubt it!!

LOL @ Susie. I have to replace my laptop. The Sony died and it's time, but I am soooo conflicted, which is why I keep putting the purchase off. I am hindered in my work without it. I'm suffering from blogger withdrawal. I'm being killed off in Mafia Wars (LOL). My Farm Town farm has withered. I have the broker's exam stuff I need to get down... I need a laptop before RE Bar Camp. I have sooo gotta pick one this weekend. I hope my cousins can help me out with this. :-)

Carolyn, I hate Google Chrome...It won't let me open my MLS listings, and - it looks oddly like a page off Cartoon Network. Wish I could figure out how to get the old version back....

I had to uninstall it. Wasn't easy to reinstall the older version... Totally whomped... My MLS is running IE6. Go figure...

My MLS is the same. Good thing I have more than one computer!  I am thinking of giving up Gmail...
