Someone Mentioned I Should Write An AR Success Story. Hmm... Interesting...

This is not as easy as I thought it would be. I keep thinking about my friends. I think that if I had to write one then the Active Rain Group: Club Chaos would probably reflect the best thing that has ever virtually happened to me in the realm of social media. I love my little on-line family and had no idea co-creating that group would alter my life. I can not imagine my life without them floating around. We share an awful lot and really enjoy hanging out together in real life and cyberspace.

There are approximately 625 members in my virtual house. It's my home away from home and only a laptop, e-mail, IM, DM, FB, chat, Skype, tweet, fax and phone call away. The members inviting members keep it interesting. My personal e-mail is off the wall with fascinating behind the scenes chatter. ;-)

I have at least 35 people on speed dial from there alone. Got a question? I'm calling long distance without batting an eye. Need a change in scenery? Mangiggly the I-talian, Princess Paddy Pizappi and Melodious of Botting hand over the couch. They tell me when I'm being smart. The yell at me when I'm stupid. They stop talking to me when I'm really bad and spank me when I really need a smack upside the noggin to rattle my brain back into high gear. They hold the keys to my real estate heart and the only reason I am still in the game is because they make it fun to come to work every single day. They make it fun to share eye candy. They make me want to be a better person and they let me be exactly who I am (rumor has it a talented but anal retentive nut job running amuck in cyberspace who sometimes does real estate when she isn't painting, filming, making music, etc).

I love being a third generation high-jacker of blogs directly descended from TLW. How cool is that? Very. Without TLW Club Chaos would not be here. She taught Mandycap the fine art of jacking a blog. Amanda and Mel taught me. You all can thank Amanda Hall for quipping us into existence after Melodious took me under her virtual wings and straightened out my bad blogging habits. Yup. Was boring and careful, hiding behind the "ya gotta behave on-line and write market reports police." Except my comments did not match my blog. Mel caught that and wanted to know what the hell was the matter with me. God bless her, she e-mailed me into submission. Chicka doesn't quit when she decides to get to the bottom of something, so watch out people (LMAO). After my AR schooling and surviving a serious jacking, I dumped a bunch of groups, deleted a few posts and started over. What you read is what you get, flaws and all, which is probably why my e-mail is so very interesting. ;-)

Mel is the boss of me (LOL). Being bossed by Melodious is priceless. She's a smart cookie. If only you were a fly on the wall for those conversations (LMAO). I love the way Lenn Harley thinks. I love the humor of Laura Watts. I love the Wacked and  Jacked crews and am very proud of how Diary of A Realtor is rocking the house. I absolutely love my bay-bays and am very excited watching them create and navigate stellar groups! The best part is seeing the connections evolve and watch the family's growth. We are all in this together and I am very happy to be here. ;-)

I think the best part of AR is the fact that I am free to be me with my friends. We rant, rave, compliment, contrast, complain, share home movies, toss in some eye candy, do a little serial commenting, write posts between playing games. Work does not feel like work at all. I enjoy social media and yup, I network a lot. Nothing like members connecting on multiple levels and nothing beats the friendships. (P.S. The sleepovers are pretty cool too. Where else can the little minions pick up a couple extra aunts and uncles? Seriously. BTW, the free food ROCKS!!! Yes, my peeps habitually feed me - LMAO)

Awwwwww hell, what were you expecting? Success is relative, bay-bay! I'm in love with people who love me. Doesn't get better than that. Seriously... :-)

I beg to differ.  I may have smacked you up side of your head on occasion, (calling President Obama Prez Dude comes to mind!  Lol! )  but I have never stopped talking to you girl!

Got your message today, but it was Meals on Wheels day and Max was home from school and the phone was ringing and I am still not feeling great, so I'm sorry I didnt' get back to you love.  Mommy is coming tomorrow and I am working on Saturday, a lead from my website, so I will catch you after Easter.  Love you!  Happy Easter!

Love,

Hi C-Tann

I'm new, fat, old, and not understanding a lot of the jargon. Does any business get done here? I'm l0oking for referrals in Sarasota County. Life is excellent. God is good. Now somebody send me a referral and thanks for letting me in. If my wife knew I was blogging at 3 am, she would toss me. She is the brains and beauty behind our massive team. I am the schmeckel with unlimited enthusiam that will show people homes until they plead to be let out of my car, or better yet I get cranky and finally pull over and say, get out of my car now.

What a great business.

All I can say is "THANKS".

I labor over a complicated and well researched post to ActiveRain and, while it gets comments from my wonderful subscribers, no Gold Star.  Yet, on the same day, there will be an article about a member contemplating their navel with a Gold Star.  Oh well.

Then along comes that comment from "C" with a little butterfly saying that my article had been featured on Club Chaos".

I can smile again.

Frank and Sharon, thank you. I love playing in the Rain. It's one of my fave places to be. :-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) over 9 years ago

Sandy C, I think when Mel talked me into letting my hair down we sort of realized there had to be a whole bunch of peeps who would probably cut loose if they realized it really is okay to say what you mean or spit out how you really feel. Melodious and Amanda look out for newbies and adopt people they think need a little help. I needed lots of help (LOL).

We were playing a lot of blog tag meeting up on other people's posts and sending out the e-mail invitations so we'd know where the par-tay was for the evening. When we joked about jacking blogs every night Amanda quipped if we did it would be Club Chaos. I fell out laughing because I realized we could do something with that, so we did. The very next day we formed the group and made it invitation only because we really wanted to play in the Rain with our friends and go save some newbies from themselves like they saved me. :-) We figured if we jacked each other up who'd get mad? Seems we ticked off the people on the outside who wanted in (LOL). Some crashed the gates. Some asked to be invited. Some got da boot within 48 hours. It took a while to figure out who really wanted to be there and who wanted to cause strife trying to shut down or police the crew. Some people left on their own because they thought being associated made them unprofessional (LOL). Oh well... what the hey. To each his own...

In the beginning we sent out 100 invites and got 65 people in three days. 13 days later we were in the top 10 and haven't left page one since. I still find that amazing. There are over 5000 groups. I guess when you hang out with your friends on-line you will always find something to talk about (LOL). There are a lot of beautiful minds in the Rain. AR is my mastermind group and CC is my personal think tank. I run everything by the founders, admins and moderators. I think I make them a little crazy (LOL). I adore my bay-bays. I lurk in the background a lot, don't always comment on posts but read like a crazy person trying to keep an eye on everything. The crew tends to police itself but having great admins and moderators makes my life a lot easier. I stand by them and have never reversed a single decision they have ever made. :-)

I think the most fun for me are the responses to the Chaos invitations. A lot of people didn't believe they would fit in. I always wondered why. We take every type of person and opinion imaginable. It's about writing about what interests you. From Shakespeare to Dr. Seuss is a pretty wide range to fill a group membership requirement. The possibilities are infinite (LMAO). Yes, I can be very silly... silly is good when you have little minions. ;-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) over 9 years ago

Erik, I have six mentors at CC. They are teaching me how to pass their state RE exams (oh horror - she really is gonna collect those other licenses - LOL). My virtual instructors are very patient but I know I make them really crazy (ROTFL). I'm learning a lot from them and appreciate them because I have "issues." A few may even be mental. Am I artistic or autistic? No, wait... I'm anal retentive. Hehehehe ;-)

I think the best part of being here is learning new ways to be creative with my craft. I get to do stuff that I love and incorporate it into real estate blogging. I get to arrange some music, do a little digital film, doodle a drawing or two, take lots of pictures, travel like a tourist in my own backyard, etc (LOL). My friends are yelling at me to do something serious with my website so I'm going to start pasting the codes together and upgrade that puppy. I've been a drag and drop lazy person with the GoDaddy website tonight module. Now it seems I need to actually dust of my diploma and use it (LMAO). I wonder what we'll get by the end of Summer... (Hmm... that really is a scary thought... be afraid... be very afraid... LOL).

ROTFLMAO @ Kieran. Sweetie, just keep making friends, all the rest will follow. Your blogging buddies will start calling you and when you least expect it you'll get direct referrals. Trust me on this. I picked up 21 so far and it hasn't been a year blogging on AR yet. I'm sorry I only had two to give out, but I'm betting as more of my friends retire I'll have more. My third will be for Shelby Idaho at Jameston Estates... Seems a gal pal has changed her mind about moving to the other side and recently took her NY home off the market. Pam is too far away so I've got to find another prospect to pass the info along to. I thought I had one but he turned out to be a knucklehead. My seller didn't like his blog and comments. Yup, my peeps read AR and Google prospective agents. All my clients do. I send them here. Mandatory reading if you mess with me and my peeps (LOL). My version of full disclosure as a Realtor... If one doesn't like my blog or the fact that I tow minions into the field I am so not the Realtor for you. I'm very upfront about my kids and their therapy schedules. My kids come first in all things. Fact is, talking about the wee ones actually brings me business. My shorties have their own following. They go hyper-local with Mama all the time (LOL). :-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) over 9 years ago

Paddy, my lovely, we have so got to do that!!!! Seriously!!!! I know that you are very busy. Busy is good (LOL). ;-)

Sheldon, Josef and I are scoping a couple of NY spots to host Laugh Lunch so if you've got suggestions for upstate between you and the GWB let us know. I've been wandering everywhere with the Nikon and Sony. I don't leave home without the video camera now. I had to buy a new bag to keep them together (LOL). I'm learning to be prepared to capture what ever I stumble upon. The kids love it. Stephen, the Minion Blur, thinks he's Cecil B deMented (I tease 'em both a lot - bad mommy) and he now brings me his shoes and coat to indicate we have to leave (try talking a 2 year old out of a 5AM shoot - very interesting - LOL). He falls out if I stop long enough to take a shower and dress us all. Seems that takes way too long. Dude wants to be out and about exploring the streets NOW (LMAO).

I've created two Curious George cameramen. Cecil B deMented usually points the way. He's our director of direction. ;-)

LOL C...

Every time I read a post like this I feel like a proud Mommy. Y'all make me really glad I put up the fight that would allow AR to grow into it's social media Rain hat :)

I sometimes wonder what would have become of AR had I, and the folks I enlisted to help me, had not put up a fight. Just how boring would this place be? :)

TLW, you ROCK Mama! I am almost afraid to imagine what this place would be like without members like you. I'm crazy about you and BB. I'm still amazed at how cool and funny this place is and will never forget the time you shot a insulting offer with your shotgun and my introduction to Bertha (LMAO). Talk about a lasting first impression (ROTFL). There's something for everyone (e.g. the Shark dude ROCKS). All a member has to do is explore the possibilities and embrace new friends. I learn something new every single day. This place is amazing and so are you. :-)

The cool thing about on-line friends is that they introduce you to the people and places they care about, giving one even more opportunities to discover and fall in love with a brand new crew of peeps, a place to eat or spot to vacation. I love vacation pictures. I love event pictures. I love getting a peek at the back streets where shopping is nice and only the locals really know how to navigate to the good stuff. It's contagious. It's fun. All one has to do is really mean it when one decides to let another blogger into their life and share some quality time about their own.

It takes a lot of effort to be a friend. One should never take them for granted. Friends are the family people get to choose for themselves.Converting my on-ling buddies into brick and mortar buddies is a priority with me. I'm always on the phone playing phone tag and hooking up meetings. :-)

My on-line family is just as important to me as my bloodline and In-Laws. When you are with your family you don't have to try and be perfect or pretend to be something that you are not. You can really talk about the good and bad times. You can share a scary moment. You can enjoy the joy of a birth or whisper about the pain of a death. Not having to worry about being rejected because you're vulnerable for a moment is a gift of relationships. This makes ActiveRain incredibly special because so much of life is celebrated and commiserated here. It's a very unique component that some people just don't get because they're only here to try and make a buck and hunt for business networking opportunities. I get solicited up to my eyeballs from people contacting me through my profile. I go to check them out and am always disappointed to discover there is nothing there. Just a profile... or a shabby site not well thought out but they want to trade links with you as if they are doing you a favor... that whomps...

I'm not a snob, I spoof about my little 5 page GoDaddy sites all the time (LOL). It's really simple and uncomplicated but works well for me. If I knock a site then they have to be really bad (LMAO). Active Rain can help with that if they use the other AR features because one can make their personal website homepage a landing portal to all their other sites. Link love is king. :-) I don't get it when people only make a profile here. AR is so much more than a directory...

Why waste a profile if one is not going to blog? I'm not going to knock the non-bloggers, I just want to understand them better. There are some really lovely people who have been commenting for over two years but have never posted a blog post. Some have collected significant points just from serial commenting (LOL). I chat with a few of them but can't learn about what they are really interested in because they never write posts, only comments. It's hard to keep up with their lives and disappointing not to be able to see eye candy from where they work and play. I think that's why I'm nuts about Localism. I get to travel while never leaving home (LOL).

I absolutely adore you and can not imagine my life without you and BB there. It's great being one of your bay-bays and doing what ever I feel like doing while floating through cyberspace playing with my family and friends.

BTW, I love having extra Mamas and can't wait to introduce you to the little minions up close and personal (LOL). ;-)

Libby, I love the fact that you get CC. It is a pleasure to have you in the family. Have fun with it, sweetie. :-)

Thank you, Jennifer. The best part is when I get to mix and match my brick and mortars with my on-line friends. They have been coming along quite nicely and I'm looking forward to all the get togethers. We're going to be throwing some annual events so we can meet up and have a blast. I'm really looking forward to going to SC because there are so many stops along the way to make. I can't wait to take Laura Watts out when we hit NC. Seems I've been passing nearby for the last 20 years. Who knew? Very cool (LMAO).

I was very happy you joined the family and look forward to many more interesting conversations. I'm painting Richard Weisser right now. He won the Gigglefest Social Media 2.0 free portrait and some Trump University goodies. I'm hoping to get this painting done in a reasonable amount of time so I can ship it off to GA with the rest of his stuff. I've been making small video clips on its progress and will have a very interesting video to put together later on. Lizette, I adore you and your artwork. You guys have got to go check her blog out. She just recently started a new company which is always a very cool thing to do. Check out and join her fan page on FB for Lizette Realty. :-)

I remember the first time I found out she was an artist. I was totally fascinated with her use of color and it turned out my fave painting was also her fave painting. Sweet! :-)

Did you guys know she exhibits professionally? Yup. I'm not the only one fooling around in the art galleries (LOL).

We have quite a few artist in the CC family and Liz is one of my faves. Her Artist Exhibitions include eBay; Kindred-Miller Antiques, Lexington, KY; Worldwidearts.com; Centralarray.com; Maskerville, Key West, FL; Loudon House, Lexington,KY; October, Winnepeg, CA; Community Trust Bank Gallery, Richmond, KY; Bloodline, Winchester,KY; Damselfly, Midway, KY... Lady gets around, people. Wanna see some of her work? Go here and definitely here (LOL).

Me? I just hang out at the Ward-Nasse Gallery because I like it there. Soho is awesome! I love Manhattan! Can you say foodie paradise? (LMAO) I tried Agora Gallery for a brief stint and promptly ran my bloggers butt right back to Ward-Nasse because I like the artist cooperative format better. Non-exclusive means I can do anything, which is why I stick with them as my exclusive art reps (LOL). Contrary? Maybe... I just like keeping my options open and i really like them. (LOL)

Like AR is my fave place to blog, WN contains my fave artistic peeps. One gallery representing my quirky paintbrush is enough for me. I'm sure when I get to FL I"ll have to pick another one (or not) but I will cross that bridge when I get there. BTW, I've been invited to do London, Paris and Japan. My kids are too small so I couldn't exhibit overseas when they previously asked me but now that Mike is retired and I have Poppy D in the UK ro visit I may have to seriously reconsider the London gallery (LOL). I have a minion sitter and someone who can pick out my hotel and tell me where to eat (Yay!). I am sooooo gonna cross the Big Pond one day very soon with a crete of paintings. Seriously! How can I not when I'm chatting on JusicyRedApple.org with Poppy D's British peeps? :-)

You can peek at my art work in my previous Meme here. Richard Weisser's Gigglefest 2.0 portrait will be something similar to the ones on the right side. We may be giving another portrait away for the next Gigglefest 2.0 Laugh Lunch so you will have to keep an eye out on the Outside Blog Minion Report FB fan page here. Lizette's company is also sponsoring Gigglefest so you have to watch her fan page as well. Josef Katz and Sheldon Neal are also sponsors. If you haven't joined the Trump University FB fan page you need to get over there as well. Never know when the official trivia questions will be embedded but at least you now know where they are. Richard was the only one to answer the trivia questions and e-mail them in. Dude won by default (LOL). Very cool. Little minions only had one name in the hat (LMAO).

Wanna free Gigglefest 2.0 portrait? Gotta be in it to win it. Seriously! :-)

Rebecca, thank you. I think sometimes I write backwards on purpose (LOL). If you write how you generally express yourself people get an idea in their head about how you talk or sound. Those same people are then not surprised when they meet you. In fact, I've had a few people tell me that I sound exactly like I write, or how they imagined I'd sound, which makes them very happy for some strange reason. Oh well... I think my favorite moment is when they discover that I really do say, "seriously...." Too much Grey's Anatomy perhaps? Maybe... (or maybe not - LOL) One can never have too much Grey's Anatomy. ;-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) over 9 years ago

Paul McF, thank you. I think I'm still in the industry because of all of the people in the Rain who are willing to help out when a question needs to be answered. It is remarkable how many people will not help you when they view you as competition. I like to view my role as a co-op broker but there are those who do not cooperate with anyone. Sad but true...

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) over 9 years ago

Hi C, I love that term "virtual house." And what's really funny, if people have not been paying attention to you and your peeps all along they would have no idea who you are talking about in this post LOL. Kind of like following a soap opera or weekly TV show on a regular basis. Happy Easter, and great job with Club Chaos!!

Robert H, please feel free to post what ever you want. Seriously! We read and comment on just about anything over here (LOL). Dude, we pray for dogs and babies, take pictures of our backyards and pass referrals around with our recipes for chicken soup. We blog about Fringe and 24. We share pictures of our donuts. We jack each other up and have pizza afterward. We throw Skype par-tays. Wait for something cool to write? Life is cool. Write want you want to share and we'll thumb up thumb down poke fun at each other. Looking forward to it. Very much so (LMAO).

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) over 9 years ago

Laraine, thank you. I shall have to smile more. I did promise Susan Mangigian as well (LOL). I think I may have thrown a few pictures in the comments section on a number of posts to actually prove it was possible to make me smile (LMAO). I tend to laugh a lot. Maybe I'll film something... ;-)

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) over 9 years ago

If I may insert an amendment to C's note to Robert H.  We do everything C said with the exception of taking pictures of donuts.  C is the only one taking pictures of food.  Just saying.

Kathy K, I remember when we first started chatting in December last year. Mel sent me over to say hello. I'm very glad she did because I enjoyed meeting you and peeking at your blog. I love when members take the time to introduce other members into the fold. Mel introduced me to her friends and I was instantly captivated. They are some of the most plain spoken and funny people I have ever had the pleasure to meet.

We can't possibly be there for everyone but we can be there for somebody, one post at a time. It's a very simple principal that has made a huge difference in my life. I'm glad Mel taught me the significance of taking the time out to stop everything to launch a buddy into a warm atmosphere of friends. I am always excited when members let me know they are bringing another friend into the family. It's always nice to be able to connect with people. 6 degrees of sep works well for us because we're not a huge group, we're pretty small but very busy. We can take the time to get to know each other and not be lost in a sea of unfamiliar faces.

Did you know the membership roll is constantly being monitored in Club Chaos? Peple may be surprised to discover the admins, moderators and founders know exactly what is going on. We're in touch all the time. (I really do think I drive them crazy - LOL). We usually wait and see what the newbies are going to do and decide if it's a good or bad thing. We've had very few problems but once in a while a lot of drama erupts in the background and then the tough decisions have to be made. Most problems take care of themselves. Friends tend to rally around friends and spank each other when they need it. Believe you me, I get spanked all the time (LMAO). Oh well... I am a better blogger for it. :-)

LMAO @ Susan. Hello lovely! What do I get if I post links to other people's food with donuts in them? Are you forgetting Poppy D likes to take pictures of her meals as well? Darn. I just ruined the bet (ROTFLMAO).

I could have sworn there was a donut on other blogs somewhere besides the two of us. Oh well... what the hey... I'll find them eventually for Robert H. You know how anal I am and how I feel about my foodie paradise spots. Just want my buddy to be comfy. I'm always scoping food (LOL). That's why I remembered the donuts... Wonder if Sheldon posted his donut shot from the diner. Hmm... Am I projecting? Craving? Prego? (Oh horror!)  ;-)

Lenn, my love, it is a date. I love fishing. My Granny Wisdom (Mom's Mom) took me when I was 10 years old and I've been hooked ever since. That is a soothing, quiet thing to do. I bet we'd get some great eye candy as well. Looking forward to it. It's a date date! :-D

LOL @ Gary. Very true!!!!! (ROTFLMAO) We do have a lot of fun collecting our terms of endearments, eh? ;-) Who knew I'd be so fond of becoming Wordy C? (LMAO).

BTW, Susan Mangigian's Wordy C will be making an appearance later on. I have mad e-mail and I've been cracking up reading it while answering the comments on this post. I may have to film a clip to make up for being tardy on the photo Meme I was tagged with. Kill two virtual birds with one blogging stone. Hmm... Gonna be busy later. Looking forward to the fun. :-)

LOL @ Tammy. The Tann Clan were born with motor mouths (LOL). Of course, fishing requires quiet so I shall either whisper or be very quiet and still. It's a huge treat because I have not gone since my grandmother died. I'm really looking forward to it. I am like a kid at Christmas over here. You guys have no idea how excited I am. ANDREW J LENZA!!!!! Hello handsome! Glad to see you here. For those of you who do not know I am absolutely wild about this guy! What an awesome writer with a fabulous blog. He blew it up, but I have to confess I downloaded and saved at least 30 of my fave AR posts that he wrote. I spent hours reading him and marveling at the bantering between comments. I think that's another reason why I enjoy playing in AR so much. People like Andrew and TLW make it possible for people like me to step out and take that plunge. I wasn't really into FB until the gang said Andrew was playing over there, so of course I had to join and get busy (LOL). Now I play Yoville, Mafia Wars, Sorority and ger kidnapped by my peers (LOL).

I can't wait for his book to come out. I am soooo looking forward to it. Andrew J Lenza, Margaret Rome and Elizabeth Weintraub inspire me. They are some of my fave writers and I have been busting my bloggers butt to get my book done. I'm spoofing on my eye candy 'cause I'm a coffee book kinda gal. (Translated: Ooooooo, pretty pictures... LOL)

The funny thing is my law enforcement buddies want me to write thrillers because for a brief period of time I used to be an investigator for a mayoral agency and they think my 15+ years with maximum security male inmates on Riker's island would make for very interesting plot twists.

Yup. I understand the criminal mind. Freaky, eh? Truth is, they're just people... (Oh horror!) Everyone has something that motivates them and most people are not evil 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Not trying to minimize crime, just speaking a simple truth. Leverage is everything whether you're a good or bad guy. We all look for any opening to get what we want. Hmm... Maybe I'll freak you guys out with a Riker's post later. Might be fun. I can be pretty spooky when I have my game face on (LOL).

Posted by C Tann-Starr (Tann Starr & Associates, Inc.) over 9 years ago

LMAO @ Debra. Did you say shopping? Pick the Mall bay-bay, I'll drag the hubby along. Maybe he'll pay us to go away and leave him alone. All you have to do is start talking really fast and he'll zone out because we're talking girlie-girlie day stuff (LMAO). He never bothers me when I'm out with Cindy, Emelia or Amanda Marie. They're my shopping escorts. I'm not allowed to buy clothes on my own because I am a notorious sneaker bum (and am known to detour into electronics stores). I leave home for a bra and come back with a DVD player. So, Deb, where are we going? When are we going? (LMAO) ;-)

My dear friend Lenn, if fishing for you is a quiet sport, used for contemplation, I would suggest you bring a muzzle along because my friend C is, well... she's a talker!  From the moment this woman opens her eyes and quite possibly even in her sleep...

I bet that was a good one to come up with such a Spanking-A nickname.
