Wow... This is new... Ready for the next bit of Facebook mischief?

I have 771 friends that you can generally place in the following categories: suggested peeps, known and notorious inner sanctum cohorts, inner circle, outer circle, real estate, law enforcement, educational, music, art and gaming.

There are 9 people I really don't know at all but said yes to because of how they asked (LOL). One said his pastor sent him specifically to me. I have no idea why and was sorry to be informed that he recently passed away. He was a nice man and enjoyed my blog links. I will miss him. Because of him I accepted the other 8 people because sometimes you have to give people a chance to make a connection. We're all learning from each other now. They're new to Facebook and have less than 10 friends each and it's very interesting watching them feel their way around social media...

There are 3 that I dared to friend me and they did (LOL). We're having a grand time instant chatting. :-)

There are also 3 fun readers from the Kim-Stream that over-lap the other categories.

FYI: My relatives are thrown in there willy-nilly but we shall save them for another blog post. ;-)

Tonight's bit of mischief hails from my Riker's Island law enforcement peeps who previously sent out an e-mail from one of the law enforcement groups I was dragged into a couple of months ago. Seems so many people have ducked out of it that members are now asking other members if we know specific people from particular jails because they can't pull those people back into the group. They're blocked from doing so...

I am being asked to send specific people invitations to join it if I know them... I am being told that those targeted officers are good people and should be in XYZ group. They are not just supplying names but also tours of duty and specific positions in addition to the jails they work at.

Hmm...

I'm sitting here thinking it would have been kinda nice had someone invited me to join as well instead of dragging me in and me waking up to strange e-mails because my peeps thought I needed to be there and read 'em (LOL).

It made me wonder why people who left a Facebook group couldn't just be left alone in peace.

It also made me wonder about the social media peer pressure involved in targeting specific personalities for inclusion on a group roster. Is this networking run amok? It's not like LinkedIn where there's a discreet third party request for an introduction between two people with personal and/or business ties. This was a lets indiscriminately e-mail the group and see if we can make something happen the participant previously declined but I still want to happen...

Yeah... I left the group. I would have stayed if the missive was a lets reach out to former members to find out what we're doing wrong so that they might reconsider coming back and help us improve things...

If they had marketed their membership drive differently I have reasonable cause to believe they wouldn't be bleeding virtual members. If you care about your membership rolls you might want to start your virtual campaign by actually caring about the members...
