The road we travel is not an easy road by any means. I find in my adulthood that there are times that I wish I could pass off the responsibility and be a child instead. I have often wondered why I was in such a hurry to grow up... and now I'm trying to figure out how to convey that very message to my beloved children who seem to be in a hurry to join the throngs of adulthood (at 5 and 3).
Our world is in such chaos right now that watching the news is like climbing and endless stairway of problems that need solving and it wears me out.
And, if you think that you aren't going to be affected? I am here to attest that you will be! In fact.... even the Minnesota shutdown is affecting every other state in the union. Want proof?
Wisconsin has become a very busy travel industry for Minnesotans looking for a nearby state park to plant a tent. Minnesota's parks are quiet and peaceful while Wisconsin is opening it's arms wide taking reservations for summer travel.
Truckers coming from and going to everywhere are finding new rest stops to sleep in as the state rest stops have been closed. Finding shuteye near a toilet in a natural setting is not as easy as it once was. Nevermind the ease of pulling off and on the highways.
Bars and liquor stores are closing their doors due to licenses expiring. Bordering states will become quite important for those looking for a liquor entertainment the longer that this mess goes on.
Canterbury horses are racing to other tracks faster than you can say "GO!" and won't be back this season. The effects of lost horses this year will last longer than the shutdown (we hope). Other states are accepting racing horses as we speak.
Businesses are closing shop. Entrepreneurs are giving up. Pretty soon I fear that we will have folks digging up their tent posts and moving. This is NOT a conducive situation for real estate. Everyday there is someone new that is unemployed due to the shutdown and within weeks or months we could see folks flocking to jobs outside the state merely by means of survival.
So, as Minnesota works to figure out it's budget with a Governor that seems more concerned about himself than the public... I wouldn't be surprised to start hearing bigger squabbles. It's easier to get rid of one than a 100 right? If the big "I" word shows up at the dinner table I really wouldn't be surprised. Truth is? I've seen the word show up on FB...
Really? If you don't live in Minnesota you may not directly feel the affects of this tidal wave, but let me leave you with this. We are very near this same reaction on a NATIONAL level. Pray tell the national congress and President have more sense than our dear state because I hate to think of the coming ramifications of what's soon to be.
Tonight. Tonight I'm choosing to turn off my TV. I don't even want to hear it. Knowing that the news reports won't change overnight... though they could if the groups would sit down and work together. I will instead be tending to my gardens and considering what I need to do to prepare for a life we may need to live if the paperwork isn't settled.
And... if you hear the word Impeachment? Know that it didn't start with me. I think that Governor Dayton might be on the edge of some bigger problems if he doesn't figure out how to work with congress._________________________________________________________________________________________
In the meantime... if you are looking to move into the area... I'll wait for you to call!
